Ireland have been bogged down, most of their runs came in that first Topley over so improvements needed. You need to try and ride it out and the bad ball will come.

  2. Ire 27-2published at 11 overs

David Willey gets his line seven shades of wrong and spears a filthy wide down the leg side, before he watches a welcome four get pushed straight back past him.

Andrew Balbirnie digs out a nice yorker, and that's a better over for Ireland.

    Leaping catches > everything.

  4. Ire 20-2published at 10 overs

    Ireland are going nowhere.

A nice cover drive is cut off by a sliding Moeen Ali and Andrew Balbirnie has to settle for a single. That's the powerplay done with.

The extra cloud is just assisting the bowlers a little bit, creating a little bit more swing and movement. Willey is taking full advantage, bowling that perfect length.

  6. Ire 19-2published at 9 overs

Oh, hello! A beaut from David Willey, swinging in, skimming the top of middle stump, and a tumbling Jonny Bairstow stops it racing away for byes.

  7. Postpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 1 August 2020

David Willey's having a terrific week.

  8. Ire 18-2published at 8 overs

A measured single is all Andy Balbirnie can work from this latest Reece opley over.

I'd be tempted to get another slip in if he's going to play like that.

  10. Ire 17-2published at 7 overs

Leaping catches at backward point - niche, but one of my favourite things about cricket.

Harry Tector has come out to join his captain at the crease and lets a swinging delivery from David Willey go through to Jonny Bairstow. He can't resist a nibble outside off stump, though...

Banton has been given that backward point position and he took off to his left and got both hands to it. He was always in control. Once again Willey causing havoc.

  12. wicket

    Stirling c Banton b Willey 12 (Ire 15-2)

    My word, what a grab!

Because there's no crowd, it takes everyone half a second to acknowledge what has happened. Paul Stirling gets down on one knee, aiming a booming drive down the ground, but a thick outside edge flies to backward point. Banton leaps, stretches, and manages to get both hands on the ball. Superb.

If it is seaming around, which is quite surprising as it's been so dry down here, Morgan only has three seamers in his team and two spinners.

  14. Ire 15-1published at 6 overs

A nice-looking cover drive from Andy Balbirnie is cut off by the lurking fielder, before he's suckered into a play and a miss by Reece Topley.

  15. Postpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 1 August 2020

    Welcome back, Reece Topley.

  16. Ire 13-1published at 5 overs

The skipper, Andrew Balbirnie, is out at three, and a quick drop and run gets him off the mark straight away.

Paul Stirling ends the over with another heave and a miss outside off stump.

It was the back pad. The only thing Delany got right was not reviewing it. It just swung in a little bit and skidded on.

Smashing into middle stump, according to the technology.

It seemed to do everything right.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.4 overs

Delany lbw Willey 0 (Ire 12-1)

    David Willey strikes!

I mean, this just looks very out. Swing from Willey, completely beating a flummoxed Gareth Delany, who gets thwacked on the back leg. That's crashing into leg stump I reckon, and the umpire is quick to raise the finger.
