We have our first interruption of the day at Trent Bridge where it has become rather murky overhead.

Ben Slater is still there with 111 not out and Joe Clarke is on four.

Ben Duckett earlier made 116 in a stand of 178 with Slater before falling lbw to Tom Bailey.

Harry FInch and Tom Clark prevent further damage in the final six and bit overs before tea at Hove.

The loss of Phil Salt for 57 checked Sussex's progress, but Finch has 20 not out and Clark has faced 27 dot balls thus far.

Both Essex wickets fell to Jamie Porter and we've had a brief three-over cameo from Simon Harmer, which cost him just five runs.

Play has ended for the day at Arundel - and it has ended for the season for Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson.

The England man was stretchered off with an Achilles tendon injury during Hampshire's previous game against Middlesex.

And Hampshire have confirmed that the 30-year-old will not feature again this summer.

Yorkshire 209-4 v Derbyshire

There is the 26th first-class century for Dawid Malan.

A couple of easy runs tucked away through square leg take him to three figures from 136 balls after 214 minutes out in the middle.

Having taken the decision to leave Middlesex for a move north, it must be a satisfying moment for the England left-hander, who has played very well indeed.

Ben Aitchison is short and wide, Dawid Malan square cuts for four.

The bowler doesn't learn his lesson, sends down a similar delivery - same result.

Yorkshire have their first batting point and Malan is 98 not out.

Harry Finch is building a promising innings for Sussex, a lovely front-foot cut finding the boundary for four off the bowling of Matthew Quinn.

That's 20 off 35 balls for Finch who is picking off the bad dleiveries nicely.

Dawid Malan has played one or two absolutely top-drawer strokes today and none better than that. Michael Cohen strays onto his pads and the former Middlesex captain effortlessly clips it away past mid-on for four.

It's the 12th of his innings and is immediately followed by another as Cohen strays wide of off stump and Malan glides it away backward of point.

It takes him on to 85 not out and the stand with Johnny Tattersall is now worth 84.

Somerset are motoring along very nicely at Edgbaston as opening pair Ed Byrom and Tom Lammonby have just brought up a 50 partnership.

Byrom, in particular, has punished a few loose deliveries from Bears youngster Oliver Hannon-Dalby, although he was somewhat fortunate to get away with one cut that just evaded the slip fielders.

But the duo are proving there are runs to be made on this pitch, which elicits the question of how bad the Bears' batting was earlier.

Thankfully the interruption was brief. Dawid Malan and Johnny Tattersall resume their fifth-wicket partnership to Yorkshire with little time lost.

Hampshire and Surrey have not returned from tea, with drizzle adding to the bad light issues at Arundel. We'll let you know when, and indeed if, play resumes there.

In the meantime, it's worth pointing out Hampshire are without a host of key players for the game so to have reduced Surrey to 79-5, well they'll be chuffed with that.

Keith Barker, Ryan Stevenson, Ajeet Dale and Liam Dawson are all unavailable through injury while James Vince remains unavailable as a precautionary measure until after the impending birth of his second child.

Can't blame the England man for putting family first.

Nottinghamshire 240-1 v Lancashire

Anything you can do - so can I.

Just moments after Ben Slater reached three figures, Ben Duckett follows suit by flicking Tom Bailey away behind square for four.

His century was quicker in terms of time at te crease (177 minutes) and balls faces (139) and 16 fours is two more than Slater.

No wonder he punches the air and takes off his helmet to show off his blonde-rinsed barnet.

Nottinghamshire 234-1 v Lancashire

The man Notts like to call the #ChesterfieldChurner reached the seventh first-class hundred of his career by pushing a ball from Tom Hartley through the covers for two.

Remember that Slater scored 172 against the same opponents for Leicestershire two weeks ago. The Lancashire bowlers must love him.

Partner Ben Duckett is now 98 not out.

Sussex 76-1 v Essex

Phil Salt brings up his half-century with a fine drive that beats the chasing fielder for four - that's the Sussex opener's 10th boundary.

And he quickly follows it with an 11th to move on to 56no.

The South Group is wide open - even more so if Sussex can beat leaders Essex at Hove over these next three and a half days.

Ben Duckett nudges ahead in the race to be the first to a century as he puts away a full toss by Tom Hartley to progress to 97 not out. Partner Ben Slater is on 95 but will have strike next over.

BBC Somerset's Anthony Gibson is bang on here. Somerset's bastmen haven't quite been as good as their bowlers this summer - but they haven't often needed to be.

With the weekend weather mixed at best, they will want to get the job finished as quickly as they can at Edgbaston.
