    Bell c Davies b Gregory 15 (Warks 59-4)

A massive wicket for Somerset - and you wouldn't bet against them making it three wins out of three the way they have started at Edgbaston.

It's not one Ian Bell will want to watch again - the former England batsman is caught needlessly furrowing around his leg side and grateful wicketkeeper Steve Davies takes the catch.

  2. Durham pair rebuildpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Durham 80-2 v Leicestershire

Durham are in need of a substantial partnership at Grace Road and David Bedingham has certainly made an assertive start to his innings after the loss of two wickets in successive overs.

He has collected five boundaries in reaching 35 not out, only one fewer than partner Alex Lees, who has been there since the start.

Their stand is currently worth 63.

  3. wicket

    Holden c&b Milnes 2 (Middlesex 11-1)

Haha, that's absolutely hilarious from Kent bowler Matt Milnes!

He appeals for an lbw against Max Holden after an in-swinger causes the Middlesex opener all sorts of problems.

But the ball is still in the air - and when it becomes apparent the umpire's finger isn't forthcoming, Milnes pirouettes 180 degrees to snaffle a caught and bowled instead!

    Improvisation that's called, kids.

    Northants v Worcs 47-3

We spoke too soon about the Pears' careful rebuilding - they have a lost third wicket of the morning session at Northants.

Tom ill-advisedly flicks Blessing Muzarabani's delivery away from his feet to midwicket where Ben Curran is awaiting the catch.

A key half-hour now for the Worcestershire innings, although Jack Haynes looks set, having compiled a sensible 28.

  6. Notts lose Hameedpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 78-1 v Lancashire

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

After inserting Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, it has been a tough morning for Lancashire’s attack but they have just created a breakthrough, with George Balderson pinning former Red Rose batsman Haseeb Hameed lbw for 22.

The opening stand was worth 78 for Notts, with Ben Slater fluently working his way to an unbeaten 63-ball half-century at the other end.

    Kent v Middlesex 6-0

A steady start for Middlesex in what is almost an elimination game at Canterbury.

Both sides have won one and lost one so far - and it's difficult to see two defeats (from only five matches, remember) getting you a place in the final at Lord's.

    Nottinghamshire 74-0 v Lancashire

Ben Slater brings up a 63-ball half-century by pulling a short one away to the mid-wicket fence.

He now has 10 boundaries to his credit.

After scoring 197 runs in two games on loan with Leicestershire, he is clearly playing with some confidence.

    Northants v Worcs 37-2

While Warwickshire are rallying at Edgbaston, their Midlands rivals Worcestershire are doing similar at Northants.

After the early departures of openers Jake Libby and Daryl Mitchell, the Pears have rebuilt carefully with Tom Fell and Jack Haynes compiling a stand of 29 and counting.

  10. Postpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

A quick update on what is happening in South group.

Hampshire and Kent are due to start at 1230, and there is no play yet between Sussex and Essex or Hampshire and Surrey.

The umpires at Hove are, though, planning to inspect at 13:00 BST.

    Warks 35-3 v Somerset

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset at Edgbaston

The Somerset wicket machine is firing on all cylinders, with another terrific opening burst from Craig Overton and superb work in the field from Tom Abell to reduce the home side to 15-3.

Ian Bell, though, is carrying Warwickshire’s hopes of a fightback. He's hit two boundaries to move steadily to 8no.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Bairstow c Hosein b Dal 22 (Yorkshire 40-2 v Derbyshire)

It's the one Derbyshire wanted - England's Jonny Bairstow edges a all from Anuj Dal and Harvey Hosein makes no mistake behind the stumps.

In truth, that's a pretty loose attempt at a cover drive by JB, his front foot was nowhere near the itch of the ball.

Dawid Malan is the new batsman and there is still no Gary Ballance in the Yorkshire team.

  13. Gubbins out for Middlesexpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Kent v Middlesex

Some big news from Canterbury where Nick Gubbins has been forced to withdraw from visitors Middlesex's squad.

Gubbins - who hit 192 in Middlesex's opening win over Surrey - may have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Kent have won the toss and have chosen to bowl first - that game will get under way at 12.15 BST after a rain-delayed start.

Rhodes run out (Abell) 10 (Warks 15-3)

No, Will Rhodes doesn't remain at the crease and, no, his partnership with Ian Bell is not going to be vital for Warwickshire.

Somerset simply just don't hang about, do they?

As if Craig Overton's accuracy with the ball was not damaging enough to the hosts' hopes, Somerset have their fielding arms hot as well - skipper Tom Abell with a stunning direct hit to leave Rhodes flailing.

  15. Postpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 51-0 v Lancashire

Ben Slater is rattling along for Notts in their 'away' game at Trent Bridge.

He has eight fours already in his unbeaten 39 off 41 balls.

Partner Haseeb Hameed has a more sedate 10 not out, but did produce one sumptuous cover drive off former Notts seamer Luke Wood, who has been taken out of the attack by Lancashire after four overs for 15 runs.

  16. Denly back as Cox sits it outpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

Kent v Middlesex - play due to start at 1215 BST

    Jordan CoxImage source, PA Media

Last week Kent youngster Jordan Cox was flying high after smashing all sorts of batting records in tandem with Jack Leaning.

The 19-year-old didn't let his guard down during his superb 238 not out - but unfortunately did for a moment afterwards when he posed for a photo with young fans, thereby breaching social distancing rules.

The consequence of that was having to go into self-isolation and so instead of strapping on the pads against Middlesex, he will have to follow the game from elsewhere.

Mind you, Kent don't have a bad replacement. England's Joe Denly is in the team after recovering from a back problem which forced him to miss the one-day series against Ireland. The rain has moved away, Kent have won the toss and will bowl.

    Hain b C Overton 1 (Warks 15-2)

We're in for another wicketfest involving Somerset aren't we?

It's 2-4 for Craig Overton who clean bowls Sam Hain. Bails a-flying. Warwickshire will want to see the end of his opening spell.

Skipper Will Rhodes remains at the crease on 10, and he is joined by England legend Ian Bell in what is shaping up to be a key partnership for the Bears.

  18. Postpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Northants v Worcs 12-2

Jake Libby and Daryl Mitchell put on a 152 stand against Gloucestershire in Worcestershire's opener - but today they have gone for just seven runs between them.

All seven came from Mitchell but he's back in the socially-distanced pavilion as Nathan Buck claims his second victim of the morning courtesy of another poor prod to slip where Gareth Berg bags a simple catch.

Not sure what Joe Weatherley and James Fuller have got to smile about as there hasn't been any play yet in Hampshire's game with Surrey.

Maybe they are just happy to be at Arundel Castle.

    Yates c Davies b C Overton 3 (Warks 12-1)

What were we saying about that Somerset attack? And Craig Overton in particular is putting forward a fine case for being the Bob Willis Trophy's top bowler.

Bears opener Rob Yates becomes one-time England seamer Overton's 12th victim this summer.

It's a brilliant delivery that beats the batsman all ends up, forcing a nick through to wicketkeeper Steve Davies. First blood to Somerset.
