  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Steel c Azad b Griffiths 1 (Durham 18-2 v Leicestershire)

A double setback for Durham and another undistinguished stroke by one of their top-order batsmen.

This time it's Cameron Steel who opens the face slightly and is taken at first slip - almost like he was giving Hassan Azad catching practice.

  2. Early lunchpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Glamorgan v Gloucestershire

What's the earliest you can have lunch? 11:30 BST surely? Anything else and it's brunch, right?

Anyway the rain is not relenting in Wales, where an early lunch has been put in place for 12:30 BST and an inspection to follow.

Better news from Canterbury where the toss between Kent and Middlesex is scheduled for just before noon.

  3. Postpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Yorkshire 22-1 v Derbyshire

Things have settled down a bit at Headingley.

England's Jonny Bairstow has just collected the first boundary of his innings off Dustin Melton, having come out to the middle after the early loss of Tom Kohler Cadmore.

He'll be looking for a 'biggie' today.

    Durham 14-1 v Leicestershire

Dieter Klein takes a wicketImage source, Rex Features

Not a great start by Durham after being put in at Grace Road as Sean Dickson hangs his bat out to angled ball from Dieter Klein and that's an easy one for the keeper as he moved to his right.

Durham have only gone past 200 once in four innings so far in the BWT - and they need someone to step up today.

  5. Postpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Northants v Worcs 6-1

Here's that early wicket for Northants. A good delivery or a poor shot? Very unlike in-form Libby, you have to say.

  7. Postpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Warks (8-0) v Somerset

Warwickshire are clearly wary of a Somerset bowling attack that has propelled today's visitors to Edgbaston to two wins out of two in the Bob Willis Trophy thus far.

They have started incredibly guardedly with the bat, scoring just eight runs off the first six overs. But, importantly, not having lost an early wicket.

The Bears are probably fully aware that 21 wickets fell on the first day of Somerset's previous game against Northants.

  8. Postpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Lancashire 15-0 v Nottinghamshire

    Haseeb HameedImage source, Rex Features

It must be a strange feeling for Notts opener Haseeb Hameed to walk out to bat against his former club in an away game on his home ground.

Equally, it must be unusual for partner Ben Slater to be back out there in the middle after playing for Leicestershire for the last two weeks.

Still, it's going smoothly enough so far with four overs gone at Trent Bridge, Slater is 10 not out and Hameed has five to his name.

  9. 6 runs

Postpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Yorkshire 14-1 v Derbyshire

Well it's certainly a frenetic start at Headingley.

After seeing partner Tom Kohler-Cadmore depart for a duck in the previous over, Adam Lyth deposits two successive deliveries from Michael Cohen in the next one into the East Stand.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Libby c Waxley b Buck 0 (Worcs 5-1)

Well, it seemed an interesting decision from Northants to put this summer's big-hitters Worcestershire in, having won the toss - and it's soon paid off.

The Pears have hit 455 and 428 first-innings totals in the Bob Willis Trophy but have suffered an early blow here, Jake Libby nudging Nathan Buck's delivery to slip where Alex Wakely takes a smart catch.

Libby made a career-best 184 against Glamorgan last time out - but he's gone for a duck here. Talk about highs to lows.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Kohler-Cadmore c Critchley b Aitchison 0 (Yorkshire 2-1)

A great start by Ben Aitchison who has Tom Kohler-Cadmore taken at third slip in his opening over at Headingley.

Looked like TKC was in two minds about whether to play or leave alone.

Maybe putting Yorkshire in wasn't a gamble by Billy Godleman (see 11:06 entry)

  12. Postpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Yorkshire 2-0 v Derbyshire

It is perhaps something of a gamble by Derbyshire skipper Billy Godleman to put Yorkshire in, given the inexperience of his seam attack.

Michael Cohen has the new ball at Headingley and it's a tidy enough start by him, with just a couple of runs to Adam Lyth from his second delivery.

While rain has delayed the start of four of our games, it does appear to be easing.

There will be an 11.30am inspection at Sophia Gardens where Glamorgan host Gloucestershire, while the drizzle has halted at Arundel where 'hosts' Hampshire welcome Surrey.

  14. Play under waypublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

It is is sometimes said that it is 'grim up north'.

This morning, the very opposite is true from a weather perspective.

But the players are out on time in five of our nine games.

    Time for action.

  18. Top two clash in North grouppublished at 10:49 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

Yorkshire v Derbyshire - play starts 1100 BST

Two teams have 100% records in North group after two rounds of matches, so a full-throttle contest is on the cards at Headingley.

Whoever emerges victorious between Yorkshire and Derbyshire will be in a very strong position, with the two group winners earning the most points set to contest the final at Lord's next month.

Yorkshire included all-rounder David Willey, England's leading wicket-taker in the recent one-day series against Ireland, in their squad for the game, but he has not been selected in the final XI.

Derbyshire will be without the all-round skills of Luis Reece, who has a "minor knock", according to the club, and Fynn Hudson-Prentice is still not ready to return from a thigh injury.

  19. Sussex's turn to suffer - again?published at 10:44 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

    Simon HarnmerImage source, Getty Images

The bowlers of Sussex were on the receiving end last week as Jordan Cox and Jack Leaning smashed all sorts of records.

This week, it's the batsmen who may find themselves under pressure when Essex throw the ball to Simon Harmer.

His match figures of 14-131 put Surrey on the skids, and he has now taken 237 wickets in first-class cricket since joining Essex in 2017 - that's an average of more than five per game.

Incredible! Astonishing! Choose your own superlative.

  20. Home away from homepublished at 10:40 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

Bob Willis Trophy - play starts 1100 BST

As the approved venues for England matches during the pandemic, the Ageas Bowl and Old Trafford are not currently available for Bob Willis Trophy fixtures

Thus it is that Hampshire and Lancashire find themselves playing home games this week at grounds very much outside their county borders.

Hampshire have travelled 40 miles into Sussex to take up temporary residence at the picturesque Arundel Castle ground where they held a training camp last month, as they take on Surrey.

Lancashire, meanwhile, take on Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, with the 'away' side actually the home side, if you see what we mean.
