We didn't have any play between Glamorgan and Gloucestershire yesterday.

BBC Wales Sport's Nick Webb tells us, though, that an inspection is planned for 11:00, which could mean a start a bit later on if there is no further rain.

  5. Holland steps up with 'four-fer'published at 10:44 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

Surrey 79-5 v Hampshire (at close on day one)

Hampshire are short of a number of players through injury and unavailability this summer - and United States seamer Ian Holland made the most of his opportunity on day one against Surrey.

Playing in the unfamiliar surroundings of Arundel, with Hampshire's Rose Bowl unavailable due to being used as an England Test venue, Holland ripped through Surrey's top order to take 4-22.

“It was nice the wickets fell my way," the 29-year-old said. “The Borthwick wicket was a beauty. I was happy with that one. For the Roy one I meant to swing it away but it came in.

“I hadn’t taken the new ball before for Hampshire so it was a nice opportunity to step up knowing that we had a lot of senior bowlers not playing.”

Weather conditions aren't great at the majority of our grounds, though there are one or two exceptions, thank goodness. Here's BBC Radio Newcastle's Martin Emmerson with his assessment of the situation at Leicester.

Nottinghamshire batsman Ben Duckett enjoyed a special moment as he registered his first century at Trent Bridge on day one against Lancashire.

The left-hander, moved from Northants in 2018, made 116 and told the Notts website: "It's been a long time coming. I've been feeling good and working hard and it's nice to get a score on the board.

"It's a shame no-one was here to see it. I was pretty calm, but emotions take over and when I got that one to the boundary, you could see how happy I was."

Duckett put on 178 with Ben Slater, who is still there on 111.

    Oh dear.

Remember that bit in the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy has to repeat "there's no place like home" over and over? It's now time to click your heels together and repeat "there will be some cricket" over and over and we are sure your wish will be granted.

Oh, and it will help if you have a pet dog called Toto.
