  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Burnham c Ackermann b Davis 31 (Durham 227-5 v Leicestershire)

An immediate breakthrough for Leicestershire following the resumption as Will Davis strikes with the final ball of his over.

Jack Burnham pushes forward but slightly down the wrong line and the edge is safely taken at second slip by Colin Ackermann.

Durham skipper - and former Leicestershire player - Ned Eckersley is the new batsman.

Phil Pinder: Snookery cricketer - Deon Kruis-ible.

Tim Cashell: Craig White, F-red Trueman, Ye low full toss, Keith Greenfield, Ben Brown, Greg Blue-ett, Derek Pink-le, Ian Black-well.

That's a cracking effort at a total clearance, Tim, but we're going to have to call a foul at your attempt on the yellow - it needs to be a name! Four points away - and a free ball.

  3. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Warks 121 v Somerset 190-5

Steve Davies (47no) and Craig Overton (24no) have put on 60 for Somerset's sixth wicket to put the visitors well in command at Edgbaston.

They will be looking to push on past 250 and give themselves a chance of bowling Warwickshire out on Monday and Tuesday - given their bowling brilliance thus far this summer, you wouldn't rule it out.

Speaking of Davies, he's the one who cued up our little snookery cricketers pun-fest that live text readers seem to have had plenty of fun with...

  4. Durham resume inningspublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Durham 224-4 v Leicestershire

They are back out in the middle at Grace Road - to be honest, we've forgotten how many interruptions there have been today.

Anyway, Will Davis has the ball and Jack Burnham and Gareth Harte are the not out batsmen.

  5. Latest from Trent Bridgepublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 268-2 v Lancashire - start delayed

The umpires (Tim Robinson and Paul Baldwin) have been out to take a look. And they enjoyed the experience so much, they're going to do it again at 16:30.

  6. Inspection at Canterburypublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Kent v Middlesex 94-4

We may yet see more cricket in Kent - although so much time has been lost to the weather, it is surely going to take a real turn in the elements to yield an outright result there with Middlesex still in their first innings.

An inspection is due at 16:45 BST - if Kent do manage to squeeze a couple of hours in, they will want to take those final six Middlesex wickets as quickly as possible.

  7. Gloucestershire in controlpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Glamorgan 80-5 v Gloucestershire

Billy Root and Dan Douthwaite survive the final six overs before tea in Cardiff, but they must feel like rabbits caught in headlights.

Gloucestershire have given practically nothing away since play finally began after a first day wash-out, underlined by the 1.6 an over scoring rate.

Can they keep it up for the final session?

  8. Postpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Warks 121 v Somerset 181-5

Steve Davies and Craig Overton are doing their best to take the game away from Warwickshire at Edgbaston - their fine partnership has passed the half-century mark and Somerset are closing in on their first batting point.

Davies, in particular, is punishing anything wide with boundary after boundary - he's up to seven fours so far.

The Central Group leaders continue to look like the team to beat in the Bob Willis Trophy.

  10. No relief for Glamorganpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Glamorgan 79-5 v Gloucestershire

Sorry to keep harping on about this if you are a Glamorgan follower, but there have been six boundaries in 46 overs at Sophia Gardens, and no batsman has hit more than one.

This is tremendous accuracy by the Gloucestershire attack, who are fully justifying Chris Dent's decision to put the Welsh side in.

Billy Root is 17 not out, after 109 minutes at the crease, and Dan Douthwaite has six.

  11. 6 runs

for Zaibpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Northants 90-4 v Worcs 219

I was pretty scathing about Northants' batting efforts earlier but credit where credit is due, they are recovering well here.

Charlie Thurston and Saif Zaib are rotating the strike nicely and both have bagged a couple of boundaries in a rebuilding partnership worth 30 and counting.

Zaib has just walloped a huge six off Joe Leach in the last ball before tea - although rain has arrived at Wantage Road at just around the same time.

Kent's Darren Stevens took the 800th first-class wicket of his career earlier today. How does he do it? Team-mate Ollie Robinson knows his wizarding secret.

Wonder which house Darren was in? First two people that let us know the correct answer, we'll give you a quid each*......(best joke of the day?)

*part of the above may not be true

  14. Get involved - 'snookery' cricketerspublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    #bbccricket

We asked you to give us your best snooker-related cricketers on Crucible final day - and you're not letting us down. These are great.

Mr Jones: Snooker related cricketers you say? I give you Denis Breakwell.

Kevin Nicholls: Dennis foul and Amiss.

    Nick Rutter: Chris Jawdan.

Gavin Way: Hold up, what about ‘cricketry’ snooker players? Surely Graeme Dott (ball) is allowed.

Fair point, Gavin - although that should really be one for the BBC Snooker live text! But we'll allow it!

  15. Postpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Warks 121 v Somerset 143-5

Somerset's Craig Overton showing us he's not just a bowler (and some bowler at that), stroking a sumptuous four through point from a slightly wayward Craig Miles delivery.

And he's just hit another off Henry Brookes to move into double figures in quickfire fashion. One of the players of the Bob Willis Trophy so far, no question - he hit a half-century against Northants last time out too.

Somerset accumulating a valuable lead here.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Cullen c Roderick b Scott 16 (Glamorgan 71-5 v Gloucestershire)

Another one gone at Sophia Gardens.

Tom Cullen didn't do an awful lot wrong but George Scott's leg-cutter and keeper Gareth Roderick completes the dismissal.

Billy Root is 15 not out as he is joined by Dan Douthwaite.

  17. Early tea at Kentpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Kent v Middlesex 94-4

    Canterbury.Image source, Getty Images

With rain continuing to fall in Canterbury, the umpires have elected to take an early tea.

The weather over the next hour will determine whether we see any further play there today.

  18. Around the country at-a glancepublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    • Leicestershire v Durham - tea
    • Lancashire v Nottinghamshire - inspection 16:00
    • Glamorgan v Gloucestershire - in play
    • Northamptonshire v Worcestershire - in play
    • Warwickshire v Somerset - in play
    • Hampshire v Surrey - no more play today
    • Kent v Middlesex - rain stopped play
    • Sussex v Essex - rain stopped play
  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Levi c Mitchell b Barnard 11 (Northants 60-4)

A second wicket for Ed Barnard at Wantage Road and Northants are threatening to produce another underwhelming total with the bat, much to the Pears' pleasure.

Richard Levi prods at Barnard outside his off stump and succeeds only in nicking to slip where Daryl Mitchell gathers gratefully.

Northants' shot selection has not been up to scratch in this innings - did their confidence suffer an irreparable knock in the two-day defeat to Somerset?

  20. Postpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Glamorgan 64-4 v Gloucestershire

This is really hard going for Glamorgan's batsmen - 39 overs gone and a scoring rate of only 1.6 per over.

Tom Cullen has 13 not out - with his most recent boundary flicked away to fine leg - and partner Billy Root is on 10..
