WICKETpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Abell c Burgess b Miles 41 (Somerset 130-5)

We've only been back on 10 minutes at Edgbaston and Somerset are five down as skipper Tom Abell's patiently-compiled 41 is ended.

Abell was looking to brush a cheeky four down the leg side from a slightly wide ball by Craig Miles but he didn't quite time it right and wicketkeeper Michael Burgess takes a decent diving catch.

We asked you to name some 'snookery' cricketers for us, past or present, given today is the World Championship final at the Crucible.

This is the sort of thing we're after. Big fan of Baize-liss - green with envy over that one.

Simon Dewhurst: "Nic Pot-has, Graeme Foul-er, Trevor Baize-liss #bbccricket, external."

Andrew Stone: "Ray RearDon Bradman #bbccricket, external."

Can you do any better? Tweet us at #bbccricket

We'll raise you Oliver Cannon-Dalby, albeit that's more billiards perhaps.

  4. 150 runs

for Dawid Malanpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Yorkshire 288-4 v Derbyshire

Dawid Malan starts where he left off yesterday as he wastes no time in passing 150 with two fours in three balls.

Left-armer bangs one in half-way down and Malan pulls it imperiously through mid-wicket for four.

His off-side play isn't bad either, and when Cohen errs in length once more, he square cuts to the point boundary to advance to 153 not out.

And then they're off for bad light.....yes, Malan was really struggling to see the ball.....

Durham 224-4 v Leicestrshire - bad light stopped play

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

We didn’t think we would see much cricket here today because the weather has been so murky and mizzley.

Play did begin at 12.55pm and lasted five balls. They were back on a few minutes later and off again after 2.3 overs were possible. With heavy cloud cover and the lights on it was definitely not a good period to bat. The ball was certainly seaming around and swinging.

In between the showers and delays, Alex Lees added two to his overnight score and was then adjudged to have been caught behind off Tom Taylor when on 64. He looked surprised to be given out.

That brought Jack Burnham to the middle and after leaving a Taylor ball which went right over his stumps, he decided to attack and hit the bowler for four lovely cover drive boundaries in his next three overs.

There was a big moment for Gareth Harte when he was dropped in the gully by George Rhodes on 14. Not long after that they went off for the fourth time because of bad light with 20.2 overs possible on day two so far.

This is turning into a full-blown wobble from the Northamptonshire top order now.

That's just a swipe from Alex Wakely, there's no other word for it.

Riki Wessels leaps into the air to catch Wakely's nick straight above his head and Worcestershire are regaining a semblance of control after their late-order capitulation with the bat.

  7. Postpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Yorkshire 280-4 v Derbyshire

Almost time for action at Headingley where we could have 47 overs of play if the rain stays away and the light holds.

Michael Cohen has the ball, Dawid Malan - and 145 - in on strike.

Remember, these are the top two in North group, both with two wins out of two so far.

  8. Restart coming at Edgbastonpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Warks 121 v Somerset 116-4

The rain has eased in Birmingham and Central Group leaders Somerset will resume battle with Warwickshire at 15:05 BST.

The skies are clearing a bit in the Second City so there might be a bit of play left in this one yet today.

  9. Delay at Grace Roadpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Durham 224-4 v Leicestershire

Umpires Neil Mallender and Nick Cook - both former England Test players - decide the light isn't good enough to continue at the moment.

Jack Burnham is 31 not out and Gareth Harte has 14. Let's hope we get some more play in this one.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Cooke lbw b Payne 4 (Glamorgan 50-4)

This is turning into a fine afternoon for Gloucestershire, who are still very much in the hunt for top spot in the Central Group.

A delicious delivery from David Payne bends back and beats Glamorgan skipper Chris Cooke all ends up.

The umpire took about three seconds to raise his finger - two and a half seconds longer than necessary. That. Was. Plumb.

    Curran c Haynes b Tongue 14 (Northants 28-2)

    Big wicket for Worcestershire.

With so many games affected by the weather, any match that can produce a result could have a big impact on the Bob Willis Trophy standings. And this game has seen more action than most this weekend.

Ben Curran walks away in disgust before Jack Haynes even takes the catch. The Northants opener knew exactly what was coming once he had got a thick top edge off a straight Josh Tongue ball.

  13. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Durham 224-4 v Leicestershire

This is turning into a very handy partnership for Durham at Grace Road.

An exquisite off-drive by Jack Burnham off Gavin Griffiths brings him four runs and he is not 31 not out, with Gareth Harte on 14 - though the latter has just been dropped in the gully off Will Davis.

The bowling is tight but they have added 43 in 17 overs since the dismissal of Alex Lees for 64.

With Hampshire's game against Surrey already washed out for the day, the prospects of any further play at Kent are also looking bleak. Still time for the weather to clear up yet, though.

    Nottinghamshire 268-2 v Lancashire - start delayed

    Trent BridgeImage source, Rex Features

It's been a bleak scene in Nottingham so far today.

The umpires are going to take a look, though, at 15:15 BST.

Ben Slater is 111 not out for Notts - who are, if you recall, the away side in this particular fixture.

WICKETpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Carlson c Roderick b Taylor 8 (Glamorgan 42-3 v Gloucestershire)

Matt Taylor bowls a full-length delivery, Kiran Carlson tries to drive without any movement of his front foot and edges to the keeper.

He is somewhat incensed with himself, to say the least, and flays the air with his bat before trudging back to the pavilion.

  17. Latest from Headingleypublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Yorkshire 280-4 v Derbyshire - start delayed

We are going to have some cricket in Leeds.

The umpires say play can begin at 15:00 BST, if there is no further rain.

England;'s Dawid Malan will resume on 145 for Yorkshire, with partner Johnny Tattersall 64 not out.

  18. No more play at Arundelpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Surrey 130-8 v Hampshire - close

Rain ends play early at ArundelImage source, Rex Features

What a shame. We are done for the day at Arundel Castle with just 15.4 overs possible on day two.

Hampshire managed to pick up three Surrey wickets before the rain arrived, including Laurie Evans for 65, with Ian Holland improving his figures to 6-39.

Morne Morkel and Matt Dunn are the two not out batsmen, both on nought.

With only two days left, Hampshire will needed to claim the last two wickets quickly and then try to establish a sizeable first-innings lead - but all of that is in the lap of the weather gods.

  19. Postpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Northants 23-1 v Worcs 219

A Sunday carvery would go down a treat right now - and Ben Curran has just cooked one up at Northampton.

He's carved a beauty to the boundary for four off a loose ball from Joe Leach.

Decent recovery this from Northants after the early loss of Ricardo Vasconcelos.

  20. Glamorgan find boundary - againpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Glamorgan 37-2 v Gloucestershire

Just 22 overs after the first boundary of the Glamorgan innings, the second finally arrives.

Josh Shaw bowls and Nick Carlson forces it away wide of point off the back foot and it just has enough legs to reach the rope before tghe fielder can cut it off.
