  1. YORKSHIRE DRAW WITH DERBYSHIREpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 18 August 2020
    Breaking

    Yorkshire 400-6 dec v Derbyshire 300-7 dec

The game at Headingley comes to an end after Derbyshire collect their third batting point.

One they had saved the follow-on after the morning was washed out by rain - with only three runs needed overnight - a draw was inevitable.

Anuj Dal finishes on 78 not out, with Matt Critchley (63) and Billy Godleman (54) also batting well earlier in the innings.

Yorkshire take 15 points and Derbyshire 13 - and they remain the pacesetters in North group.

    Lawrence c Brown b Garton 60 (Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 153-5)

Essex are the only team who can now make it three wins out of three.

But that is a blow to their chances of doing so as Dan Lawrence gloves a bouncer from George Garton through to the keeper.

Adam Wheater comes to the middle with 43 needed and 14.5 overs to get them.

  3. rain stops play

Weather frustration for Foxespublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Durham 291-8 dec & forfeit v Leics forfeit & 208-3

    That is cruel.

Two teams set up an exciting finish by means of a morning delaration and two innings forfeits and the rain returns just when the game is reaching a crescendo.

Colin Ackermann is 61 not out and George Rhodes has 10 - but will there be enough time if the weather relents for them to chase down their target?

  4. WARKS DRAW WITH SOMERSETpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 18 August 2020
    Breaking

    Warks 121 & 140-8 draw with Somerset 413-9 dec

Wow. Match abandoned. The outfield has not passed the 17:00 BST inspection and Somerset will be absolutely mortified that they have not won this game. It's 16 points for them and 11 for the Bears.

They needed just two wickets to wrap it up - maybe even one given Warwickshire batsman Matt Lamb has badly injured his toe and might not even have occupied the crease.

The draw means Somerset slip to second place in the Central Group behind Worcestershire despite scoring 152 more runs in their solitary innings than the Bears managed in two bites at the cherry.

It will be a bitter pill to swallow for Jamie Overton and Steve Davies in particular, the pair hitting 120 and 123 not out respectively in a declaration of 413-9 that would have led to victory if not for Tuesday's downpours.

  5. HAMPSHIRE BEAT SURREY BY AN INNINGS & 52 RUNSpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 18 August 2020
    Breaking

    Surrey 172 & 74 v Hampshire 298

Jamie Smith remains unbeaten on 22 with the ruins of Surrey's second innings all around him at Arundel.

Leg-spinner Mason Crane has Matt Dunn and Amar Virdi lbw in successive overs to end the game and give Hampshire their second South Group win.

It's tough on Virdi, who took 6-101 in Hampshire's first innings, but Surrey are now effectively out of the race for Lord's having lost all three games.

Hampshire take 21 points and Surrey three.

  6. KENT DRAW WITH MIDDLESEXpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 18 August 2020
    Breaking

    Kent 191 & 70-0 draw with Middlesex 269 & 169-1 dec

The captains have shaken hands - or rather touched feet - at Canterbury where it has ended a draw.

It's not the result either side wanted, especially as South Group leaders Essex could stretch their advantage at the top if they complete their run chase at Sussex.

Ultimately, the lack of action on day one - when only 57 balls were bowled due to rain - meant neither team could eke out a win. It's 11 points for Kent and 13 for Middlesex due to their superior first-innings score.

There were cracking batting efforts from both sides, notably Robbie White's 99 for Middlesex and Joe Denly's 89 for Kent, while the latter's Darren Stevens will remember the match for his 800th career wicket.

    Ten Doeschate c Thomason b Garton 12 (Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 142-4)

After dropping a catch in the previous over, Aaron Thomason atones by catching Ryan ten Doeschate at square leg after the Essex batsman clipped George Garton off his toes.

Paul Walter is the new batsman, Dan Lawrence is on 57 and Essex need another 54.

  8. 50 runs

50 for Cookepublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Glamorgan 116 & 173-8 v Glos 181

Glamorgan are clinging on for dear life against Gloucestershire - with captain Chris Cooke producing the archetypal skipper's knock.

He's on 53no now as Glos' hopes of victory are fading by the minute, with Glamorgan's lead stretched to 108 and counting.

They need two wickets sharpish, else this one's a draw.

  9. LANCASHIRE DRAW WITH NOTTINGHAMSHIREpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 18 August 2020
    Breaking

    Nottinghamshire 472 v Lancashire 173 & 120-0

Lancashire's 'home game' with Notts comes to an end with openers Alex Davies (69no) and Keaton Jennings (37) still together.

Notts gave themselves a chance of victory by enforcing the follow-on after Tom Barber's 3-42 helped bowl the Red Rose out 299 in arrears.

But they could not part Davies and Jennings a second time and ultimately, the loss of an entire day's play because of rain cost them a first red-ball win since 2018.

Notts take 16 points and Lancashire 11.

  10. Postpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Durham 291-8 dec & forfeit v Leics forfeit & 206-3

Just 17 and a bit overs left at Grace Road for Leicestershire to try and reach a target of 292.

Brydon Carse bangs one in short and George Rhodes pulls away for four. The Foxes are giving it everything.

  11. WORCS BEAT NORTHANTS BY 78 RUNSpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 18 August 2020
    Breaking

    Worcs (219 & 255-6 dec) beat Northants (212 & 184)

A brave effort by Northants to chase 262 but it's ultimately beyond them as Ed Barnard bowls last man Jack White for a duck to complete an impressive victory for Worcestershire.

The Pears pick up 20 points for the win to put the pressure on leaders Somerset at the top of the Central Group, while fifth-placed Northants claim four consolation points - including their first batting point of the summer.

Josh Tongue and Dillon Pennington (below) claimed three wickets apiece for an impressive Pears attack, while Joe Leach and Barnard struck twice.

A big knock in each Worcestershire innings - Riki Wessels' 88 in the first and Tom Fell's unbeaten 110 in a 255-6 second innings declaration - proved the difference as the Pears, albeit perhaps temporarily with the Somerset result still to come, go top of their group.

George Garton angles the ball across Dan Lawrence, who forces it away through the covers for four with little follow-through to reach 50 off 60 balls. It's his seventh four in total and Essex need another 63 to win.

  14. Kent keeping it interestingpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Kent 191 & 53-0 v Middlesex 269 & 169-1 dec

Kent are giving themselves a sniff at Canterbury, albeit a very slight one.

They have moved to 53 without loss - and while 195 off the remaining 22 overs is a mountainous ask, they might have a T20-style slash for the last few if they keep all of their wickets intact.

Daniel Bell-Drummond (30no) is shouldering the brunt of the strike.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Evans c Lees b Steel 85 (Durham 291-78 dec & forfeit v Leics forfeit & 196-3)

If it's anatomically possible, Sam Evans will be kicking himself after that.

A full toss is delivered by Cameron Steel and Evans hammers it straight to Alex Lees at long-on.

It ends a stand of 127 with skipper Colin Ackermann, who is 60 not out and has now been joined by George Rhodes.

Another 96 needed by the Foxes.

  16. Pitch inspection at Edgbastonpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Warks 121 & 140-8 v Somerset 413-9

The umpires will inspect the Edgbaston pitch at 17:00 BST.

There's been a lot of rain in Birmingham today - Somerset will hope there hasn't been too much.

    Worcestershire celebrate.Image source, Getty Images

Adam Rossington's lusty and admirable counter-attacking innings has come to an end for Northants - and so, you would suspect, have their chances of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat at Wantage Road.

His adventurous efforts had taken them from 77-5 to 150-7 - needing 263 at the start of the innings - but Worcestershire now need to just mop up the Northants tail to complete victory.

It was not a pretty way for Rossington to fall, absolutely skying one off Joe Leach - and the Northants skipper was almost back in the pavilion by the time the ball came out of the clouds and dropped into the hands of chasing wicketkeeper Ben Cox.

  18. 50 runs

for Colin Ackermannpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Durham 291-8 dec & forfeit v Leics forfeit & 185-2

Colin Ackermann helps a ball from Paul Coughlin round the corner for a single to bring up a 93-ball fifty.

Durham decide to give Cameron Steel a go and a full toss gifts four easy runs to Sam Evans in his opening over.

Evans has 82 and Leicestershire need another 107.

  19. Westley falls at Hovepublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 121-3

    Tom WestleyImage source, Rex Features

While all that was happening at Arundel, Essex lost another wicket at Hove where skipper Tom Westley was beaten for pace by one from Stuart Meaker and bowled for 24.

Dan Lawrence is still there on 46 and has now been joined by Ryan ten Doeschate. The target is 196.

  20. wicket

HAT-TRICK FOR JAMES FULLERpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Surrey 172 & 51-8 v Hampshire 298

What a moment for James Fuller, who completes the 19th hat-trick for Hampshire in a first-class game by bowling Morne Morkel.

The last was by Kyle Abbott at Worcester in 2018 - and Fuller's treble has put Hampshire firmly on course for victory.

Morkel offered no stroke to that ball so he only has himself to blame.
