  4. Close of play at Tauntonpublished at 18:58 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Somerset 237 v Gloucestershire 13-4

    Well we've seen that before.

Somerset under the pump with the bat but cobble together a score with their lower order and then come roaring in with the ball.

It's no coincidence that it keeps happening but at the moment no-one is good enough to stop it.

Gloucestershire allowed the things to slip in the field just when they were having a great session after tea.

The tail stuck with George Bartlett who reached a fine hundred.

And then the bowlers just did their thing to make it another great day of what's been a great season so far for Somerset.

Still two overs left in the day at Taunton.

  6. Close of play at Grace Roadpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Leics 222 v Notts 48-0

Notts end day one on top as they close 174 behind Leicestershire with all 10 wickets in hand.

Some fine batting from Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater late in the day for the visitors.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Shaw lbw Davey 4 (Somerset 237 v Gloucestershire 9-4)

Truly painful this for anyone from a Gloucestershire persuasion.

Josh Davey with a full delivery that nips in to Josh Shaw, catches him on the back leg, and he's out lbw.

The Glosters are being blown away.

  8. Postpublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Leics 222 v Notts 47-0

The boundaries are really flowing late in the day for Notts.

Haseeb Hameed notches his seventh with a clip off his legs off Ben Mike.

Hameed has 33 off 39 balls.

  9. Stumps at The Ovalpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Surrey v Kent 295-8

Day one comes to a close at The Oval.

Plenty of batsmen contributed for Kent, led by Grant Stewart's 58, while Sam Curran finished the day with 3-65.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    van Buuren c Davies b C Overton 1 (Somerset 237 v Gloucestershire 9-3)

Somerset are just ruthless with the ball!

We've seen this time and time again, they have this wonderful ability to really seize the moment.

It's Craig Overton again. A quick nip-backer has Graeme van Buuren caught in the crease and he gets an inside edge through to Steven Davies.

    Carnage.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Charlesworth c Hildreth b Davey 3 (Somerset 237 v Gloucestershire 9-2)

This couldn't have worked out better for Somerset.

Some momentum-grabbing late runs and now a nasty period to come charging in with the new ball.

They have a second wicket through Josh Davey.

He's round the wicket to the left-handed Ben Charlesworth bowling a tight line and the 19-year-old can't resist having a feel for one and edges to first slip.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Stewart b Virdi 58 (Surrey v Kent 292-8)

Grant Stewart skips down the pitch to Amar Virdi, goes for a big heave, but doesn't connect and he's bowled. A fine innings comes to an end.

Kent are eight down with a couple of overs to go at The Oval.

  13. Close of play at Wantage Roadpublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Northamptonshire 82-1 v Glamorgan 259

After losing the plot with the ball once again in the face of some late hitting, Northamptonshire are doing their best to atone with the bat.

Ben Curran and Charlie Thurston have both shown promise in their limited experience so far but runs are the only currency for batsmen and both could use a score.

But a good effort so far, a half-century stand for the second wicket at four-and-a-half an over.

Had you given Northamptonshire that at the start of the day, they'd have probably taken it.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Dent lbw C Overton 5 (Somerset 237 v Gloucestershire 7-1)

It's a big early wicket for Somerset.

Craig Overton to the left-handed Chris Dent from over the wicket, Dent just misjudges the line, get outside the ball and is lbw on the crease.

Time for Somerset to do serious damage tonight with the new ball in not great light.

  15. Postpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Leics 222 v Notts 29-0

Notts opener Haseeb Hameed is looking in good touch at the start of this innings.

The 23-year-old flicks Tom Taylor off his legs for his fourth boundary and is up to 19.

  16. Close of play at Radlettpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

And with that final Sussex wicket, it's stumps.

  17. Sussex all outpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Middlesex v Sussex 293

Tim Murtagh finishes off the Sussex innings by bowling teenage debutant Will Sheffield.

Tom Haines, the opener who retired hurt earlier in the day, carries his bat for 31!

  18. Stumps at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Durham 219-6 v Derbyshire

With some rain now heading in, that is indeed it for the day in Durham.

    Just about even-stevens.

  19. 50 runs

for Stewartpublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Surrey v Kent 284-7

This is a fine rally from Kent's lower order.

Grant Stewart goes to fifty off 93 balls.

He's led the recovery from 170-6 to 284-7.

  20. Close of play at New Roadpublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 22 August 2020

    Worcs v Warwickshire 228-3

Not the day Worcestershire were hoping for to keep up their bid for a place in the Bob Willis Trophy final.

The won the toss, sent Warwickshire in but saw a stand of 165 for the second wicket between Will Rhodes and Sam Hain dominate the day.

Rhodes walks off with an unbeaten 143 to his name having batted all day.

Superb stuff, grinding out a score. The run-rate at only two-and-a-half all day but a great day for the Bears.
