Well, here we are at the end of another interesting day.

A couple of results and we think (possibly) we know one of our two finalists.

Don't forget - for full reaction and coverage of today's action, visit the Counties page of the BBC Sport website and app.

We'll be back to bring you the conclusion of this round and the group stage from around 10:15 BST on Wednesday.

Until then - take care and stay safe.

  2. Postpublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 8 September 2020

Right - we're almost done for the evening.

Before we go, we'll show you all the scores from the eight games.

  3. Stumps at Aigburthpublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 8 September 2020

    Lancashire 219 & 312-6 v Derbys 195

A nice cameo then from England Under-19 all-rounder George Balderson.

That six was the last ball of the day across all our fixtures.

  4. 50 runs

for George Baldersonpublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 8 September 2020

    Lancashire 219 & 312-6 v Derbys 195

Balderson sneaks a single and brings up his maiden first-class half century.

He's on strike two balls later and smashes a six. Talk about playing for close!

  5. 300 runs

up for Lancashirepublished at 18:40 British Summer Time 8 September 2020

    Lancashire 219 & 304-6 v Derbys 195

Actually I think Lancashire are starting to get going again. George Balderson strikes a lovely four to bring up his side's 300.

He then pinches a single from the final delivery of the penultimate over to move onto 49.

He'll face the last six balls. Matthew Critchley will bowl them.

  6. Postpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 8 September 2020

    Lancashire 219 & 291-6 v Derbys 195

Three overs left in Liverpool now.

George Balderson hits a lovely four to move to 41.

He's now only two shots away from a maiden first-class half century.

I don't think he's planning on getting there in two swipes though. Everything's slowed down a bit.

Durham have fought hard on the third afternoon to wipe out the Notts' lead of 128.

They did it for the loss of just one wicket, that of Alex Lees who was out lbw for 27 having put on an opening stand of 67 with Sean Dickson.

Dickson, who'd managed just 41 runs in seven Bob Willis Trophy innings then put together a partnership of 61 for the second wicket with Michael Jones.

It was much-needed because Jones was on a pair and had managed a highest score of just 10 in his previous seven innings.

However, having got level, Dickson was then bowled by Samit Patel for 56 with two overs of the day left.

Durham will resume on the final day with a three-run lead at 131-2.

  8. Stumps at Trent Bridgepublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 8 September 2020

    Notts 422 v Durham 294 & 131-2

And Durham reach the close on 131-2 picking up another two runs from the final two overs.

Lancashire's game with Derbyshire the only one still playing now.

  9. Postpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 8 September 2020

    Notts 422 v Durham 294 & 129-2

Scores are level at Trent Bridge and we've got a wicket as well.

A beauty of a delivery from Samit Patel bowls Sean Dickson for 56.

Two overs to go until stumps.

    Surrey (388) trail Sussex (415 & 109-9) by 136 runs

That is stumps at The Oval.

Spin has turned this match on its head in more ways than one courtesy of Dan Moriarty and Amar Virdi taking all nine Sussex wickets to fall so far.

Sussex close on 109-9 with a lead of just 136.

Stuart Meaker finishes unbeaten on 32 overnight.

    Glamorgan (203 & 9-0) need 331 runs to beat Warwickshire (186 & 347-7 dec)

    Glamorgan's openers get through unscathed.

Nick Selman will start tomorrow on seven, Joe Cooke has two.

Only a couple more fixtures still playing on day three.

  12. Postpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 8 September 2020

    Lancashire 219 & 255-6 v Derbys 195

Eight overs to go in Liverpool and Derbyshire have another wicket.

This time it's George Lavelle who departs, trapped leg before by Luis Reece.

Lancashire have upped the rate in the last hour, they'll want to give themselves enough time tomorrow to potentially win the game.

    Carson c Burns b Moriarty 6 (Surrey 388 v Sussex 415 & 102-9)

And a sixth wicket of the innings for Dan Moriarty!

Jack Carson is the latest to depart late in the day for Sussex as Rory Burns takes the catch at first slip.

Moriarty with 6-55 now, which will be first-class career-best figures whatever happens.

It's also his third consecutive five-wicket haul in this competition.

  14. 100 runs

100 up for Sussexpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 8 September 2020

    Surrey (388) trail Sussex (415 & 100-8) by 127 runs

Didn't look like happening for a while, but Sussex have reached 100 in this eventful second innings.

Former Surrey man Stuart Meaker (25 not out) has helped get them there down the order.

Into the final three overs of this third day with a lead of 127 with just two wickets in hand.

    Glamorgan (203 & 0-0) need 331 runs to beat Warwickshire (186 & 347-7 dec)

Warwickshire have declared against Glamorgan on 347-7.

That'll mean the hosts require 331 runs to win.

The Bears will get five overs in before close of play tonight if the light and rain holds.

The story of the day at Sophia Gardens though is undoubtedly Ian Bell's beautiful 90 in his final first-class innings.

    Yorkshire (252) lead Leicestershire (124 & 78-5) by 50 runs

    UmpsImage source, Rex Features

That's your lot for the third day at Headingley.

It's not got any brighter outside and the covers are back on the pitch for the evening.

Yorkshire and Leicestershire will have to come back tomorrow to conclude this one with the Foxes still 50 runs adrift of drawing level.

  17. Postpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 8 September 2020

Of course, this all could've been so different if Derbyshire made another five runs to pick up a single batting bonus point.

Then if they'd go on to beat Lancashire they'd finish on 91 points.

That's one more than Essex's 91 after they beat Middlesex earlier today.

Chris: According to playing regulations, if a game is not completed, then you use Net Run-Rate rather than wins as tie-breaker - could this apply given Gloucester v Northants was abandoned?

We're seeking clarification on this right now from the ECB, but we're yet to receive any official communication at this stage, so watch this space!

  19. Postpublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 8 September 2020

    Lancashire 219 & 230-5 v Derbys 195

Two quick wickets for Derbyshire as Rob Jones and Dane Vilas fall for 5 and 10 respectively.

It still seems very, very unlikely that Derbyshire will win this. But everyone better get their calculators out just in case.

We could have a three-way tie for a spot in the final!
