Mark Burt: Jack Leach should’ve played every test this summer. A beautiful bowler with control and guile. How Bess got the nod before him is beyond me.
Game ends in draw which means Essex win Bob Willis Trophy
Somerset declared on 272-7 setting Essex 237 in 80 overs

Need 109 more runs to win
So, another session rolls past. We have one more left in this five-day county final.
Still not sure which way it's going to go.
Make sure you've got your eyes on it though after tea, because so far in this match, that's when the wickets have fallen in quick succession.
That would suit Somerset and their supporters no end should it happen again.

Somerset have pushed really hard, they've bowled well but Essex have hung tough.
Losing the big wickets of Alastair Cook and Dan Lawrence in that session was big but at four wickets down and still six batsmen they'll be feeling confident of seeing this through.
Essex 128-4
And Ryan ten Doeschate's ploy of changing his guard, fiddling with his box and then sweeping some dirt off his studs is successful.
That is tea.
Essex will need 109 more runs to win, Somerset six more wickets when we resume.
There will be a minimum of 32 overs to bowl in the final session.
Need 109 more runs to win
Paul Walter nudges another off his legs against Jack Leach and the Ryan ten Doeschate cuts away a short and wide ball for four to the point fence.
Somerset still attacking with four close catchers.
Two more to Ten Doeschate into the vacant legside and then he tries to waste as much time as possible to ensure this is the last over before tea.

If Somerset can sneak in a wicket here they'll be right in the hunt.
Walter 18, Ten Doeschate 11
Appeals, half-shouts, oohhs and aahs continue in every over.
Craig Overton keeps on plugging away from the Pavilion End to Ryan ten Doeschate, who keeps being doughty in defence.
Maiden over. Probably only time for one more before tea.
Need 116 more runs to win
Couple of runs to Paul Walter with a clip off the legs behind square.
They can leisurely come back for that with three catchers under helmets now around the bat, plus the wicketkeeper.
Jack Leach appeals for a leg before once more but nothing doing this time against Walter and then goes a touch too full a couple of balls later to Ryan ten Doeschate, who picks up three more down to mid-on.
Essex now with more runs on the board than they still need to win. A minimum of 33 overs remaining.
Around 10 minutes until tea...
Walter 15, Ten Doeschate 8
The Essex run-drought ends as Ryan ten Doeschate has to fend off a rising delivery from Craig Overton.
Plays it well and gets four runs down to third man.
Big appeal the following ball for either leg before or a catch from the pleading Somerset fielders as the ball ends in first slip's hands.
Not out either way.

It's been a long final but you've got to admire the intensity of the cricket from both sides.
Essex have been stuck on the dreaded Nelson for a while here....
Leach 6-2-15-1
Jack Leach's turn to launch a big appeal as Paul Walter is struck on the front pad.
Rob Bailey turns that one down.
Bat-pad catch appeal follows but not given as it balloons into the hands of forward short leg.
Minimum 36 overs remaining
Maiden over from Craig Overton.
Big appeal for a caught behind from the last ball as Ryan ten Doeschate misses an attempted drive. No interest in that at all from umpire Russell Warren.

Martin Twibill: Looking like a conclusion if the weather holds.
Herb Acius: You wouldn’t think Jack Leach had played only two FC games and taken only one FC wicket this summer would you...Class Act!!!
Ubique: Paul Walter is a quality batsman, if he can remain calm and focused he should lead Essex to victory.
Craig Overton is coming back on for a pre-tea burst from the Pavilion End.
That was a good spell before it from Jack Brooks though I have to say.
Need 126 more runs to win
Loose delivery from Jack Leach is punished by Paul Walter as he clips the full toss away for four through mid-wicket.
Three fielders in helmets for Somerset around the bat though, including wicketkeeper Steven Davies.
No more runs off the rest of the over.
Brooks 7-3-7-0
Jack Brooks immaculate with line and length once again.
Just the one run off his over from Paul Walter.
Walter 10, Ten Doeschate 4
Maiden over from Jack Leach.
A minimum of 39 overs still to bowl and around half an hour to go until tea.
Target 237
A welcome boundary for Essex and Paul Walter as he glances Jack Brooks for four down to fine leg.
Moves the tall left-hander into double figures.
Walter well and truly playing the anchor role here. He's chewed up 49 balls so far for his unbeaten 10.
