Player of the match Saqib Mahmood: "As a team we want to win games, and as players you want to to contribute to those wins.

"You've got to read conditions and see what you need to do. It was a red-ball wicket early on, and early wickets meant we could set more attacking fields.

"Hopefully guys can take confidence from this. Saturday is a big game, and we'll want to get this series sealed quickly."

Pakistan captain Babar Azam: "To be honest we were a bit loose with the bat, and that's why we didn't get a big total, but credit to the England bowlers.

"I don't think we misread the conditions, but credit to their bowlers. The momentum they got, and the fact we couldn't get a big partnership, is why we didn't get a big total.

"We are looking forward to Lord's, and we'll try our best."

It has been a nightmare-ish day for Pakistan really. They may have been disconcerted by the events, and the weird line up they were greeted with.

Chris Whiting: That is a ridiculous performance from England considering the circumstances. Frightening strength in depth.

It certainly felt like England had depth today, you could hardly deny it.

We'll see what happens on Saturday. I just hope for the crowd - it's allowed to be a capacity - that we just have a more absorbing match.

England captain Ben Stokes: "It was a very clinical performance, when you get opposition four down early on then you're ahead in the game.

"When you get a new group together you're striving for that first real team performance. We didn't get put under pressure today, I have no doubt we will at some point. Not every game of cricket goes as smoothly as it did today."

Robin Benford: Malan and Crawley must have read the message (16.02 BST entry) so Ted and the rest of Southport Trinity under 13s have watched the innings and off to warm up with 15 minutes to spare!

The line up doesn't look a bad one. A fair few of them have played international cricket. They didn't look uncomfortable, they looked extremely comfortable from the start.

We should give credit to the captain, he's sent them out there in a sufficently relaxed manner.

All the bowlers looked the part. They didn't look nervous, or short of quality.

England controlled the game after the first over, with barely a blemish. There was the odd dropped catch, the odd long hop, and Phil Salt didn't have a sparkling debut. But everything else was just like clock work.

Ben Stokes didn't have to put his pads on, he bowled six balls, and he changed the bowlers really well, against all the odds really.

There is no doubt that Pakistan will improve, but that was a walk in the park.

Without being too critical of Pakistan, we have to understand that they haven't played a lot of cricket together recently.

Even though the England players have played together, they have been playing a lot of competitive cricket recently. That is easier to transition from.

We have to give Pakistan some leeway, but I think they could have tried more.

This will have done Zak Crawley the world of good. He might have got runs for Kent, but here he is, he's got a half century and he's look comfortable after the first 10 minutes.

He's issued a public reminder that he can still play.

Pick off the good balls, punish the bad ones.

That's England's approach as they score five singles before Zak Crawley carves Faheem through backward point for four to reach his first ODI half-century.

Dawid Malan's half-century had seven boundaries, and came off 50 balls. It is his second in ODI cricket, in just his fourth game. He made exactly 50 in his last ODI in Pune in March.

He made his Twenty20 debut here against South Africa in 2017 and made a spectacular 78.

It is an amazing sequence of events in the last few days. When you have to assemble a new team you automatically assume it will be a tough ask for Ben and his team.

It sets the series up terrifically.
