“He’s so good, isn’t he?” says one lady behind me in the crowd as Stokes hits his first boundary. Yes. Yes he is.
Stokes punches through the off side for two, the fielder in the deep is wearing at least three shades of green - two on the iconic Pakistan shirt and then some lime green boots.
Green is the colour.

Pakistan won't mind that shot from Ben Stokes, because if you get that shot wrong you are in front of all three.
It is a nice start. He is in a positive frame of mind, and I'm sure he's telling his young players to play like that as well.
Right on cue, Ben Stokes reverse sweeps leg-spinner Shadab Khan for four.

There have been no boundaries from the four overs that the spinners have bowled so far.
In the previous seven overs before that there had been 13 fours.

Ben Stokes has been fantastic for England, particularly in the last couple of years. Some of the moments, under pressure, holding your nerve, and getting your skill. He is just such a fantastic player.
His presence in the group can't go unestimated. He is a calming influence. He is a great bloke.
Ben Stokes walks out to the middle to loud cheers and applause.
The stand-in England captain, on his 100th ODI appearance, is off the mark with a single.

You just felt something was building a little bit there, Pakistan looked a lot more in control.
Phil will be disappointed with that. It is a real shame, because he looked fantastic, and managed to show why England have put him in.

That is the blow that Pakistan were after.
Salt b Shakeel 60 (Eng 118-3)
Phil Salt's entertaining innings comes to an end.
The opener moves across his stumps to sweep the ball down to fine leg, Shakeel is wise to it and Salt is bowled by a full delivery.
It's the breakthrough Pakistan needed.
Salt 59, Vince 54
Shadab Khan has given Babar Azam an element of control in his first two overs.
England manage to take six - four singles, and a well-run two - off his second over.
They are looking to use their feet and be proactive but Shadab is mixing his pace up well.
Phil Salt and James Vince have been a lot of fun so far.
Salt launches the ball to the mid-off boundary, Hassan Ali stops the ball but his momentum takes him over the rope.
He then jumps back onto the field with a salmon-like leap and prevents the ball from trickling over the boundary.
Comical but effective.

Joe Root knocks the ball around and scores off as many balls as he can. That will be the skill for these guys now - they've got the platform, but can they do that?
Haris Rauf was all geared up to bowl but Babar Azam makes a last-second change, bringing on Saud Shakeel.
It's a good start from the off-spinner who finds a bit of turns first up, beating the bat of Vince, before a couple of mistimed shots are in the air and fall safe.

Jay Perry: Remind me which one of these teams lost all of their first choice players for this series?
A much needed quiet over for Pakistan as Shadab races through his deliveries, bowling a decent line and length and restricting the England openers to a single apiece.
His seamers aren't doing what is required of them so Babar Azam turns to the leg-spin of Shadab Khan.

James Vince is a player who everyone loves to watch play but then you also get that frustration he doesn't convert. These two would really love to kick on and score a century that poses selection problems.
