  1. Eng 22-2published at 5 overs

Watching a replay of that dismissal, Crawley just couldn't get his bat down in time and the ball deflected off the toe-end of the bat and into off stump.

And England nearly lose another! James Vince, the new batsman in, plays a loose shot to Shaheen and the edge falls just short of second slip.

    England are on the ropes.

    Andy Zaltzman

It's only the third time that England's number three has been bowled for a golden duck in one-day cricket.

Graeme Hick and Jonathan Trott are the others.

Wow! That is as good as it gets! I actually got a chill listening to the crowd roar at that. It was a beauty.

There was a little bit of shape. The pace, the venom, and I don't think too many would have got much on that.

That was spectacular from the Zing bails - they flew into the air.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.1 overs

    Crawley b Shaheen 0 (Eng 21-2)

Bowled him! Shaheen Afridi strikes and Zak Crawley goes first ball.

How many times have we seen this over the years? A Pakistan seamer bowling a brilliant yorker to outfox the batsman.

The bails go flying and England are in a spot of trouble here.

Fair play to Phil Salt. He's going to be attacking and go about his business.

I like the fact that he's using his feet, and trying to dominate the bowling.

  8. Eng 21-1published at 4 overs

Hassan Ali bowling with great variation, although Salt misses out on a half-volley which really should have been sent to the boundary.

But that's better from the England opener, taking a couple of steps down the track and drilling it through mid-off for four.

Hassan oversteps the line for a no-ball, gifting England a free hit. But the Pakistan seamer redeems himself with brilliant yorker.

Salt clips another full delivery for two to end the over.

An eventful over and Zak Crawley is yet to face a ball.

That would have been a spectacular catch. It went so fast, and he did everything right, but it was just the pace. He didn't have enough to hold onto it.

Phil Salt isn't looking in flow yet. He hasn't found any timing off the pitch.

It was a really terrific effort. He almost clung on.

  11. dropped catch

Salt dropped on 11published at 2.6 overs

    Eng 12-1

It's all happening out there! Phil Salt slices it to backward point and Imam-ul-Haq dives acrobatically through the air but can't hold on.

It would have been a spectacular catch, but it's a brilliant effort.

I can understand why that was given out. It did move considerably after it went past Phil Salt.

  13. Not outpublished at 2.2 overs

    Eng 11-1

Not a single spike. Not out. Pakistan were so convinced but Salt survives.

Pakistan and Shaheen Afridi were convinced.

Phil Salt had turned his back on the umpire. He couldn't believe the roar when he heard it. He was so quick to review.

  15. England reviewpublished at 2.2 overs

    Eng 11-2

Have England lost another? Pakistan and Shaheen appeal for a caught behind and it's given. Phil Salt reviews straight away.

You have to remember this is probably England's B or C team - these guys shouldn't necessarily be expected to pull off performances like they did in the first game.

Dawid Malan is upset with himself because he went hard at it, but I think it was the set up from Hasan Ali.

That is a big wicket. I think Pakistan could bounce back here, they are that sort of team. This could be lively.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 1.6 overs

    Malan c Shadab b Hassan (Eng 9-1)

    Edged and gone!

Clever bowling from Hassan Ali as he finds some away movement, Malan flashes at it and edges to Shadab Khan at slip.

The England opener will probably be disappointed he played at that.

    Pakistan have the early breakthrough.

  19. Postpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 10 July 2021

Dawid Malan has an opportunity here, not just to break into the one-day side, but also the Test side. You only have to look at the stats to see the top-order batsmen have struggled in recent years, and he does have a Test century in Perth.

In a strange sort of way, this is a way to push for a place for the Test team.

  20. Eng 9-0published at 1.3 overs

Hassan Ali opens the bowling from the other end and begins with a loose wide down the leg side.

The Lord's crowd haven't quite warmed up yet but you can expect them to be pretty raucous as the day goes on.

Hassan has one angling back in and hitting Malan on the thigh pad, before the England opener plays in side the line of an outswinger.
