Kohli played well - and it is his highest Test score at Lord's - but he had his mind set on a big one.

Robinson deserved that. He stuck to his guns well. England have been toiling today without much luck.
Kohli c Root b Robinson 42
A roar from Ollie Robinson and relief on Joe Root's face. Virat Kohli is straightened up by Robinson and the India captain goes at it harder than in the previous over to James Anderson. The ball carries this time, and Root gobbles up the catch to his right at first slip.
Ollie Robinson continues.

Anderson is chuntering.
An edge from the bat of Virat Kohli but...it drops short of Jonny Bairstow at third slip. James Anderson has a face of thunder. Kohli played it with relatively soft hands so it didn't carry.

The one weakness in Rahul's game is his running. That really was poor - even Kohli told him off.
A brief communications breakdown between KL Rahul and Virat Kohli sees some hesitancy as they take a single off James Anderson.
Kohli, as you would imagine, insists he is in the right. Rahul claims he didn't hear the call.

England need a couple of wickets tonight or, my word, they're going to have a long day tomorrow.
A little short from James Anderson and KL Rahul rocks on to his heels and pulls it to square leg, but Ollie Robinson is on the boundary to prevent the four.
Anderson gets some late swing with his final ball of the over to Virat Kohli but the India captain's defence is sound.

At the moment you feel like England would be hard pressed to bowl India out for less than 400.
James Anderson has three slips and gully in as Joe Root counter attacks with the fresh nut in the hand of his most skillful and expereicned bowler.
Virat Kohli nudges it for one into the leg side to get himself off strike

It's been a long day for England...
Ollie Robinson finishes with three dots but he looks laboured. Encouraging cheers from the Lord's crowd as James Anderson takes over at the Pavilion End.

Pretty disastrous day for England. Not bowled that badly and not had much luck, but you can't help feel they made the decision at the toss based on their lack of faith in their own batting line-up as much as anything.
