India have had a great day. My issue is that the Indian bowlers will get a bit more out of the surface, they are so used to bowling on flat wickets. it hasn't done anywhere near as much as I think we all expected.
A few footholes are starting to develop too and Ravindra Jadeja will fancy firing a few into there, and then they've got Shami, Bumrah and Siraj - who is the sort you want on this type of pitch.
Virat Kohli with a single off Moeen Ali. He's eclipsed his best at Lord's and is 28 not out from 72 balls.

In Tests at Lord's Virat Kohli has made 25 and 0 in 2014, and then 23 and 17 last time. He hasn't made a half-century here in ODI cricket either.
Moeen Ali to Virat Kohli after the drinks break. Moeen has got him out five times in his Test career.

This is a little bit of a reminder that when the isn't hooping around, or zipping through, England still look like a side that rely on Jimmy Anderson or Stuart Broad.
When they go down under, we saw it last time, they just didn't have a point of difference or the expertise. It is can England get 20 wickets? It looks a little bit like what we've seen before unfortunately.

If I wanted to be critical today England have bowled like a visiting side to Lord's today. They haven't got their line right, and I would include them all in that. They didn't make India play enough with the new ball.
Hydration time.

That did stop and bounce a little bit, like a spongy bounce. Virat Kohli was lucky that didn't pop up to the fielder.
Close! Well close-ish. Okay, well, certainly as close as we've been in the last hour or so. Ollie Robinson pings one in at Virat Kohli's hip and the ball is briefly in the air off the India skipper's bat but the ball plonks into the turf between short leg and the fielder at a short mid-on position.

The Indian batting has been so disciplined today. They have responded really well to the challenge of being put in, and they have really laid a platform.
An inside edge on to the pad and KL Rahul scampers a single much to Ollie Robinson's chagrin.

That's a terrific shot from Virat Kohli. He has looked very determined today, he has barely played a shot in anger.
Virat Kohli with a kind of wristy drive to dispatch Moeen Ali for four through the mid-on region.

Simon Goodall: Today, has definitely been Joe Root's Nasser Hussain moment.
Virat Kohli chatting to himself, and to KL Rahul, between balls. England have stationed a short mid-on in a bid to disrupt the India skipper's concentration. Kohli plays a defensive shot to the penultimate of Ollie Robinson's over which rebounds off his pad and he's able to scamper a single.

I don't think England have bowled badly at all today. I think India need to be given great credit for their adaptability to the conditions. My concern is how England would have batted and will bat. I'm amazed Anderson hasn't been given a shot at Kohli. I know he needs a rest, but to have had 2 deliveries at the 51 Kohli has faced is crazy.

A relatively troublefree over for India with KL Rahul and Virat Kohli happy to nudge and nurdle the spinner for singles.
Sam Curran replaced by Moeen Ali as England search for a way to break this partnership.
