For as much as the bowling has been relentless, England's tactics and fielding have been faultless this morning.

Ajinkya Rahane defends his way through the final over before lunch.

Joe Root and Jos Buttler applaud the England team and the Lord's crowd. That has been a very impressive morning from Root's side.

India are effectively 29-3 at lunch.

MASSIVE appeal from Ollie Robinson and England for lbw against Ajinkya Rahane.

Joe Root opts against the review. It was umpire's call.

It is really tough to get lbw decisions from this Pavillion End.

Virat Kohli won't be happy with himself. That was really outside off stump, almost a fifth stump. His front foot did not reach the line of the ball and he's feathered it. A huge wicket for Sam Curran for England. That is massive in the context of this Test.

We've just seen some footage of Virat Kohli in the India changing room. He's fuming. He has thrown something - I think his sweatband - in the direction of the window.

Ajinkya Rahane misses out of a full toss from Sam Curran, but gets up and running with a flick into mid-wicket.

India are effectively 29-3 by the way. Chris Silverwood is applauding on the England balcony.

Ajinkya Rahane, who is also under pressure in the India middle order, is the new batter.

What a celebration. Curran almost ran into the Warner Stand. A proper Imran Tahir. Meanwhile, Joe Root and umpire Richard Illingworth were having a proper chinwag. So much going on.

Virat Kohli reached for it. He will be cross about that but that's how he has been getting out recently. Sam Curran sprints away in celebration!

    GOT 'IMMMMMM!

Sam Curran had almost exclusively bowled round the wicket this morning, but he's gone back over and it caused the lbw shout in the last over, and it has caused this wicket.

It is just arrowed across Virat Kohli, who doesn't need to play, and he gets a thin edge through to Jos Buttler.

Curran wheels off in celebration. He LOVES that.

It's a big day for India on independence day. England are making sure there is plenty of pressure on Cheteshwar Pujara, but he is known for his patience. It's an important innings for his career. He is going to fall back on what has made him successful in Test cricket.

  20. Ind 55-2published at 23 overs

The partnership between Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli is worth 28.

It has slightly blunted England, but they are still creating opportunities.
