Mark Wood with his pace has got two huge wickets. Wood has bowled here because Ollie Robinson wants the Pavilion End when James Anderson has finished.

    Very good from James Anderson.

After the edge he hones in on the stumps and Cheteshwar Pujara nicks one onto his thigh pad and it loops just short of Haseeb Hameed at short leg.

England are noisy here. They are sensing a huge opportunity.

We shouldn't underestimate the fact James Anderson has bowled so well, kept it tight at the other end, so India have taken on Mark Wood. Rohit Sharma's aggression there was his downfall.

  4. Ind 27-2published at 12.3 overs

    Chance!

Cheteshwar Pujara is camped on the back foot, and he nicks James Anderson but the ball falls short of Jos Buttler and Joe Root at first slip.

  5. Postpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 15 August 2021

James Anderson is going to continue.

Virat Kohli coming to the crease may have encouraged him to dig deep and get a seventh over out.

For as fiery as that was from Wood, there will be an element of disbelief from England that Rohit fell for it one ball after they put a third fielder out on the pull.

That's good cricket from England, from Mark Wood and from Joe Root. The England captain went with that extra fielder placed on the leg-side boundary, moving Moeen Ali to where the previous shot went. He took it low down. Rohit Sharma made a big show of the fact he didn't quite middle it by looking at his bat, but he's on his way.

The players have taken drinks at the fall of that wicket.

India captain Virat Kohli will be the new batter. He hasn't got a big score in this series yet.

Moeen Ali judged that perfectly. Rohit Sharma was trying to keep the ball down but that was a great catch. The plan has worked for Mark Wood!

    Rohit c Moeen b Wood 21 (Ind 27-2)

The short-pitch plan works! Brilliant from England. Brilliant from Mark Wood.

After the six Wood threw down a fantastic bouncer that had Rohit Sharma weaving. For the final ball of the over he sends another fielder out - playing on the ego of Rohit and it works.

Wood sends down another short delivery, that is going down the leg side, and Rohit pulls it straight to Moeen Ali at deep square leg.

A huge breakthrough for England. India are effectively 0-2.

Wow. Well that is one way to wipe out a deficit.

Rohit Sharma is on the front foot and pulls Mark Wood for six. There were two fielders waiting but Rohit got enough on it.

James Anderson was clocked at 86 mph in that over. He's bowled quicker this year but his spells are a little shorter these days.

  14. Ind 21-1published at 11 overs

    Trail by six

Banged in short from James Anderson (expect to see a lot more of that when Jasprit Bumrah comes to the crease. Bowlers don't forget).

Cheteshwar Pujara doesn't play it overly convincingly, but he plays it with soft enough hands that the ball goes down rather than into the waiting slip cordon.

  15. Ind 21-1published at 10.3 overs

    Trail by 6

We've got a slight delay there as Joe Root and England ask the umpire to check the shape of the ball. As if often the case it is absolutely fine.

Haseeb Hameed has got his pads and helmet on too, as he goes in at short leg for Cheteshwar Pujara.

It wasn't just the first innings that Cheteshwar Pujara struggled. He only made four and 12 not out at Trent Bridge too.

A wicket maiden for Mark Wood.

KL Rahul might have been pleased to get away from the accuracy of Jimmy Anderson but Mark Wood has done him with a top delivery, at pace, which moved away and bounced. I felt he had to play at it, around the fourth-stump line.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who looked horribly out of the form in the first innings, is the new batter.

While he looked out on nick first time round, he has the history and game to really frustrate England here.

He is solidly in behind his first ball.
