Joe Root: "I had a conversation with Jacques Kallis when he came to work with us in Sri Lanka and he said the first hundred runs you score is for the tax man and then you earn your money afterwards. Coming from Yorkshire, that hit home to me!
"A little bit of maturity and experience, learning to deal with different scenarios has led to better game management. Sometimes you get good balls in the 60s and 70s and sometimes you find a way through that period.
"The last few years has put things in perspective without fans in the ground. There are people round the country who have gone through hard times and you are getting the opportunity to play for England at great grounds. It's important you savour certain moments. The last two hundreds I've savoured that milestone."

That could easily have gone straight through to the wicketkeeper.

That really has climbed.

Oh! A bit of steep bounce for Jimmy Anderson. That has really surprised KL Rahul. It hits the shoulder of his bat, and his bottom hand comes off the bat.
That is encouraging for England.
As is this! There's an appeal for lbw to end the over, but Rahul gets a nick on it. A tiny bit of movement there for Jimmy, though.
Over £800,000 has been raised for the Ruth Strauss Foundation in this Test.
Another truly remarkable effort.

You just get the feeling that this opening stand is key. England want to get rid of these two sharpish.

A maiden from Ollie Robinson first up.
He was struggled with his line a bit in this Test. He twice sends the ball way down the leg side, sending Jos Buttler sprawling.
More from England captain Joe Root: "More than anything I have been quite open to exploring different parts of my game and have made certain technical changes throughout the year.
"I have not necessarily been worried about trying things. I tried some things in the New Zealand series then came back to something I used to do quite a while ago from a technical perspective.
"I went back across a little bit more against New Zealand, and tapped my bat down a little bit later. Now I am standing a bit more upright, moving straight down the line of middle stump.
"What I did against New Zealand gave me a better understanding of what I was doing beforehand and what I am doing now. I needed to go through that on why it worked so well, and made me score in certain areas. I am reaping the rewards now."
It will be Ollie Robinson to share the new ball.

Better from James Anderson as the over progresses, testing the defence and patience of KL Rahul outside off stump.
One ball kept a tiny bit low on Rahul, but he was in behind it solidly enough.
Very natty outfits.

Rohit Sharma gets off the mark in the exact same fashion.

KL Rahul is up and running straight away with a nudge off his hip for a single.
It is going to be Jimmy Anderson, 626 Test wickets under his belt, to get us going.
Time for cricket. This should be a cracker.

The light drizzle, that has been in the air this morning, isn't going to stop us getting under way at 11:00 BST. The overcast conditions should assist England.
The players are making their way out to the middle.
James Anderson was targeted by a barrage of short-pitch bowling from Jasprit Bumrah when he batted last night.
Anderson took one flush on the helmet, but was fine to carry on batting. We've had word that he is absolutely fine this morning too.
It could be tasty when he bowls today though...

We've seen the India opening pair of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul put on 97 for the first wicket at Trent Bridge and 126 here at Lord's.
England will want to break them up early and expose a middle order and tail that has had its struggles with the bat.
Joe Root on TMS: "I am obviously very pleased with the way I played and felt quite fluent throughout. I felt I built some partnerships with a couple of the guys there. I feel we are in a good position in the game.
"Early innings can be quite difficult to negotiate for the batting side, so hopefully we can take advantage of that and find ourselves in a good position at the end of the day."
