    Edge. Drop. Four. Fifty.

    Well played Haseeb Hameed!

The right-hander has a little prod, and a thick inside edge flies through the fingertips of Rohit Sharma at second slip and away to the boundary.

It is Hameed's third Test fifty in five Tests. He's hopefully here to stay.

Haseeb Hameed edges ahead in the personal duel with a drop and run into the on side.

What a day for England. What a day.

That is beautifully played. A little bit of width and he just ran the ball down to third man.

    An UNBROKEN century opening stand!

Haseeb Hameed guides the ball down to third, to move to 46.

Both him and Burns are on 46. Who will get to their half-century first?

Not sure, Garry. Everything feels much worse when you're up at 05:00 doing it!

Haseeb Hameed has looked completely solid back at the top of the order.

He looked all at sea at three last week - maybe because he was at three, maybe nerves at being back at the Test table after five years away.

He picks up a couple more with a nice flick through mid-wicket.

My colleague Matt Henry, who was in the West Stand at Headingley on the day of Stokes' heroics, has been in touch. He found this in his photo album. Shortly after this moment he was fielding at first slip to the Big Show.

Rory Burns picks up a couple more with a steer through gully.

There are supposedly 13 overs left in the day. They are meant to be bowled in three minutes time...

We'll be going into the extra half hour, and we'll lose overs today. A persistent problem.

Short, wide and four! Rory Burns punishes the loose ball from Mohammed Shami and moves to 43.

India's bowling has been abject, to say the least.

Ravindra Jadeja going off the field forces Virat Kohli into a change, and he turns to Ishant Sharma.

He has been miles away from his best today, but decides just one - via a Rory Burns drive through point - from his returning over.

England's openers have overtaken the opposition's team score - this is just the fifth time in England's Test history that this has happened.
