Oh and in answer to your question, Duncan L, I'm going with watching Anderson bowl. It's like everything is alright in the world when he's bowling.
Like now, he's hooping it past KL Rahul's off stump, but the batter is yet to be tempted.
Rohit Sharma gets India's first boundary with a glorious cover drive. He doesn't even move, just stands and admires it.
Anderson won't mind seeing him play his shots. It's not as if they haven't got runs to play with.

At their best, would people prefer to watch Anderson bowl or Root bat?

Another half appeal, another one too high and outside the line.
Big appeal! A 'celebrappeal' for an lbw that Stuart Broad would be proud of from Ollie Robinson.
Umpire isn't convinced, and replays show it looks a bit high.

I'm not even going to try and pretend that I know who the Lemonheads are.
Another miserly over from Anderson brings just one run. Think patience might be pretty important from both sides here.

The Barmy Army are trying out a new song for Ollie Robinson, to the tune of Simon & Garfunkel's Mrs Robinson. I'm not sure everyone has been given the lyrics just yet. I think the Lemonheads covered Mrs Robinson, and made quite a decent job of it.
Just a single from Robinson's over. This is a testing start for India - they haven't been massively troubled but it is swinging, and it just feels like a wicket is inevitable.

James Anderson is yet to take a second-innings wicket in this series. He has figures of 0-122 in second innings.
Since the 2018-19 winter he is averaging 44 in second innings, with just 11 wickets. He is averaging 19 in first innings for comparison.

That was a great over from James Anderson. He didn't get a wicket but he'll have sown many a seed of doubt.
For what it's worth, Ed, I think you'll be OK. Surely India will be in 'digging in' mode with pretty much three days still left in the game?!
And as I say that, Rohit Sharma edges one behind - but he's played it softly and it bounces short of Craig Overton at third slip.
A maiden from Anderson.

I’m conflicted! I want England to smash India but I also want to see a full day tomorrow as I’ve got tickets. How can both still be achieved?!

Some decent swing and bounce for Ollie Robinson but no alarms for India's batters yet.
Here are the two England wickets that fell this morning.

England have had a 350-plus run lead on first innings 18 times since World War Two. They have won 17 of those games.
The one exception was against Sri Lanka at Lord's in 2006.

I can't imagine going out to bat knowing you're 354 runs behind is much fun.
I certainly can't imagine facing James Anderson hooping the ball around under a cloudy sky adds much fun to that.
Chants of 'Oh Jimmy Jimmy' are already in full flow from the Headingley crowd as Rohit Sharma gets India's first runs. Haseeb Hameed saves a couple with a sprawling dive to the third man boundary.
No surprises to see Anderson get some swing first ball, but it's a comfortable one for Rohit Sharma to leave alone.

I'm puzzled. Why didn't Joe Root declare last night and take a fresh team on to the field?
