How do you not play someone like Ashwin who has over 400 Test wickets? The pitches have not been absolute greentops, so they need him from a bowling perspective as well as a batting perspective.

In this era, people are too frightened of dropping people. But there's a difference between dropping people and discarding them - Zak Crawley has bene dropped, but not discarded. He'll play for England again. At the moment, Dawid Malan has proved he's a better bet. But I don't always agree with the "give them one game too many rather than one game too few" idea the coaches have - as then, once you are left out, it could then be years before you get back.

The balance for England seems right in terms of four seamers and a spinner. But the fragility is the batting, as they're worried about that all-rounder role.

And now looking ahead to the next Test at The Oval, which starts on Thursday.

England's selection changes have paid off this week, with Haseeb Hameed and Dawid Malan both contributing with the bat and Craig Overton with the ball.

    Will Sam Curran miss out?

Will India bring in R Ashwin?

Either way, it's 1-1 with two to play and it's set up very nicely indeed!

Ravindra Jadeja, batting with India's tailenders, looked as if he was going to try and have some fun before he was dismissed by Craig Overton for his first wicket of the morning.

His wicket was what really signalled the end for India.

Virat Kohli reached his first 50 of the series and was looking determined. But Ollie Robinson had other ideas and look how much England loved that one!

Let's take a quick look back at what happened during that chaotic 90 minutes or so today.

England knew they had to take wickets with the new ball, and they knew they had to break the partnership of Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli, who were not out overnight and made England's bowlers work very, very hard yesterday.

Ollie Robinson set the tone, removing Pujara lbw early on.

Ollie Robinson looks a natural, he's got the outswinger, the inswinger and now the wobble-seam. He's the real deal.

Player of the match Ollie Robinson on Sky Sports: "This is very special. It's something you dream about as a kid. To get it at Headingley, where I started my professional career, is very special.

"We knew that I enjoyed bowling here. I was excited to play for England here and use the conditions and facilities they have . It's special for me to get five-for and a win .

"To bowl with Jimmy is an absolute honour. To learn from him every day since vie been in the England team has proven my game no-end. Hopefully will keep learning from him and improving."

On dismissing Virat Kohli: "It was nice to get him after he hit me for two fours in the over. It's always the same plan for Virat - fourth or fifth stump and hope he nicks it."

As good as a three-and-a-half days of cricket you could hope for from England.

More from Virat Kohli on TMS:"When you've played for so long at this level, things like this happen in cricket. Winning at Lord's doesn't guarantee you'll win every game. The guys in the dressing-room are hurting. People on the outside lose patience too quickly, but you need to be patient with people and not put them under unnecessary pressure. When Pujara comes good, it makes us feel very good as a team. We've got to come out with more intensity at The Oval."

India captain Virat Kohli on TMS: "We were always up against it from the first innings, not enough runs on the board and it's very difficult to get back into the game. But we did not give up, their consistency with the ball this morning put us under a lot of pressure and they bowled much better. Robinson has bowled a lot in England and swings the ball both ways, so in these conditions he was a real find for them."

Ollie Robinson is named Man of the Match for his 5-65 in the second innings (he also took 2-16 in the first).

Can you see the same four England seamers going again at The Oval? There may be changes [considering the schedule].

And I think Ashwin has to play in this Indian team, you can't have four rabbits from eight to 11.

It's mental strength and character, Joe Root and Chris Silverwood have done a good job over the last few days. I never have any doubt about an England Test team when the ball's moving about like it did on the first day, but they've got to back it up at The Oval. England needed to win the first session here after Lord's, India will need to come back fighting and win that first session at The Oval to get their juices flowing.

England captain Joe Root speaking to TMS: "It's a great day. Those wickets were a product of the hard work we put in yesterday. We were good at squeezing the control of the game.

"They played exceptionally well yesterday and made it hard work for us and you have to give credit to opponents occasionally."

On rumours of injuries to Robinson and Anderson before day four: "Well it didn't look that way did it? That partnership between the two of them was amazing."

Was bouncing back from Lord's in this manner a surprise? "It might be for you but it's not for me because i know the talent we've got and what we're capable of.

"To bounce back in the fashion we have done is the most impressive thing. The bowling on the first day was amazing, then the way the openers played and the substantial partnerships we had."

England's James Anderson speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought we bowled really well as a partnership. Thankfully we got our rewards and took 20 wickets.

"We're missing quite a few bowlers which shows what depth we do have. We're missing the likes of Broad, Archer and Woakes - guys who have done fantastic job for us over the last few years - so to have guys come in and keep performing shows the depth we have."
