That is big. That is very big.

You don't drop Virat Kohli on 22.
Kohli 23, Jadeja 10
And, to add insult to injury, Jadeja whips off his legs for four as Chris Woakes strays a little too straight.
Well. How much will that cost England?

The ball swings as it reaches him - and it just hit the end of the fingers.

He has got enough hand on it, but it was almost past him. That is catchable. He will be disappointed by that.
Oh, what's happened here?! A genuine nick from Kohli, looks like it's heading straight to the slip cordon - but nobody moves! Straight between Root and Burns - the captain going late with his right hand when he realises that it's gone between them, but it doesn't stick.
Is that what we call a 'big moment'?
Wishing you all the best, Naheed!
Jadeja gets a streaky four off the outside edge and Joe Root looks to the sky in frustration. Craig Overton shows his frustration in typical fast bowler style - with a bouncer next ball.

Currently undergoing my second round of chemotherapy in hospital. Usually these five-hour sessions feel like an eternity but today feels like its flying by thanks to Test match cricket and TMS coverage!
Naheed from London
Kohli 22, Jadeja 2
One of my least favourite things about cricket - playing it, anyway - is when you can't eat much at the interval because you've got to bowl straight away after. It must be even harder at a Test match venue with the luxuries they have on offer.
Anyway, enough of the food chat. A glorious cover drive for four gets Kohli's afternoon session under way. Next ball he tickles one fine for a couple and Jonny Bairstow, in full keeping gear, sprints away to do the fielding.
I hope you all managed to enjoy a nice lunch wherever you are, as the players make their way back out to the field.
Chris Woakes is to start things off for England after the break.
When India resume after lunch on 54-3, they'll be hoping this man can stay there for a little longer.

Neil Virani: I like the promotion of Jadeja as a lunchwatchman. 4D cricket from Shastri.

Sitting in France keeping in touch via TMS after my husband Nick has abandoned me to travel to the Oval for a day at the Test with our two sons. The plus side is a large glass of rose and better commentary from TMS rather than Nick rabbiting on.

Regular readers will know that my other half is heavily pregnant. The due date isn't until mid-October, but our first child arrived a month early, so we're a bit twitchy. She's making me sleep with my phone on whilst I'm in London, in case I need to make a middle-of-the-night dash back up north. Hold on, little champ. Just two Tests to go...
Joe Root's decision to bowl first at the toss didn't quite look like the right one in the first half an hour or so. Not much swing, not much seam, and India's openers defending pretty solidly.
Enter Chris Woakes - and England were suddenly on top.
Andy Zaltzman
Cricket statistician on BBC Two
In five Tests played since 2015 at The Oval, seamers have bowled the majority of the overs and taken the majority of the wickets - 123 wickets at 31.07 with a strike-rate of a wicket every 60 balls.
But spinners have 50 wickets at an average of 29.01 and a strike-rate of 51 balls. The Oval has been the best ground for spin in England during that time.

Ravichandran Ashwin is doing laps of the outfield during the lunch break.
Thanks, Matt.
Well, this is set up pretty nicely, isn't it? Three early wickets will delight England, but Kohli still being there is a big win for India. He has 18 not out, while Ravindra Jadeja has been promoted to number five and has looked a tad twitchy for his two runs.
The exclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin from India's XI dominated much of the pre-match discussion.
That's me done for now. Here's Ffion Wynne.
