It looks like Rahul is seeing it and hitting it well at the moment.

India skipper Virat Kohli has appeared on the dressing room balcony and looks a lot more content than he did earlier.

Just as I say that Rahul chops Robinson away behind square for four. That was wide and not particularly quick from Robinson.

If feels like England on balance are the better bowling team. All four England seamers look a threat whereas only two of India's have been.

If the pitch stays flat, if any team is to take 10 wickets at a reasonable rate it is likely to be England.

This was a close shave for Rahul a couple of overs back. There hasn't been much else for England to get excited about. Ollie Robinson is about to return and England are already trying to change the ball which says a lot.

Stuart Broad's bandana: Joe Root's sunglasses look like those over-sized 3D glasses you get given at the cinema. I wonder which film he watched?

KL Rahul probably wouldn't have played in this series but for injuries to Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal. He has been very solid throughout. Again he blocks and prods to see out Anderson.

Kamran Ali: Time for a prediction: India to bat out entire day three and part of day four in their second innings to score 400+. England would be set 300+ to win the Oval Test!

It has been a solid start from India...

    10 overs gone. No wickets.

Time to own up. Who is getting twitchy?

  10. Ind 29-0published at 9 overs

Rohit plays a defensive stroke which goes behind him and bounces up over middle stump. Anderson looks annoyed and scrapes away at the footholes.

You can never count India out, can you? They've fought very well with the bat tonight.

Joe Root claps and barks at his troops, eager to see the intensity doesn't drop. Another over without a wicket goes by. Just over 30 minutes remain in the day.

Rahul gets one that scurries low and he does well to jam his bat down on it in exaggerated fashion. The Barmy Army trumpeter tries to keep English spirits high.

    Rohit 13, Rahul 6

I'd suggest that's because the batters aren't scoring enough runs. You can't keep them in the team just for their slip catching.

Woakes is human. He fails to find the breakthrough in his first over.

Che Seabourne: The personnel in the slip cordon are changed too often I am afraid; it really doesn’t help the players. Hoping we can develop a settled side for the Ashes. Hard enough to win down under taking 10 wickets, never mind 11 or 12…

Rohit and Rahul are actually doing quite well here - that 'drop' by Burns the only scare.

Those are remarkable stats. Woakes is a bit good, isn't he? No sign of him with the ball yet.
