And that is tea. Not a wicket in the session for England.

By no means do India have this game in the bag but they're having a very good day.

It's very, very flat. England can take hope from that if they do have to chase a score.

We kept saying someone had to get a hundred in this match, and that player would end up on the winning side.

It's a good surface, but is it a surface that England could chase 300 plus on? I'm not sure.

  6. Ind 196-1published at 67 overs

    Rohit 101, Pujara 47

Having hit that glorious stroke to reach his hundred, Rohit locks back in by blocking Woakes with the most solid of defensive strokes. There are six minutes to go until tea.

I'm a big fan of this spot. Right at the top of the pavilion there is a bar at the back of the stand where the windows slide back. Getting a stool next to the open window is the place to watch.

  8. Ind 196-1published at 66 overs

    Rohit 101, Pujara 47

It's still very gloomy at The Oval but the ball is just not doing anything. India couldn't have dreamed of things going this well at the start of play.

    I think Rohit enjoyed that...

What a mighty shot that was, and with it he brings up an almighty hundred! A terrific innings full of languid shots and then that was a shot of pure authority.

Rohit Sharma has been magnificent. I wonder how Rory Burns is feeling?

  13. Ind 195-1published at 64 overs

That is majestic from Rohit Sharma. Nerves? What nerves.

He skipped down to Moeen Ali and lofted him a mile into the stand. All of his team-mates are applauding on the balcony.

To a hundred with a six!

The masterful Rohit Sharma has his first Test century outside of India.

Joe Root got sold down the river on that one. There was absolutely nothing going for that.

    Errrm.

Not a good review. Let's leave it at that.

    Now then!

But Pujara doesn't look overly concerned.

  18. England reviewpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

Is this the breakthrough? Haseeb Hameed has taken a looping catch off Pujara off Moeen Ali's bowling.

Was there any bat? The umpire didn't think so.

A little harsh. I hope they're not reading, Ken.

Anderson is looking furious. Root has his hands on his hips. Rohit is flicking the ball to the boundary. It's going wrong for England.
