There's a chap in the stand right next to the press box who has been in the same seat for each of the first four days. He's playing chess on a tablet computer. I've got a lot of time for him.

  2. Ind 274-3published at 93.3 overs

Unsurprisingly Jimmy Anderson has limbered up for yet another bowl. He'll sleep well when this series does come to an end.

While there have only been five successful chase over 200 at The Oval - and not one since the 90s - there have been some big fourth-innings scores recently.

Joe Root applauds high above his head was the England fans finish their morning rendition of Jerusalem. There's a cheer from the right of the commentary box as Virat Kohli scores India's first ball of the day a few moments later. An ominously straightforward start for India.

Ollie Robinson is going to kick us off. Remember this is still a relatively new ball which should work in England's favour.

James Anderson speaking to TMS this morning: "We have an opportunity to win a Test match. We need to get seven wickets but we have showed we have a lot of character in this dressing room. We have a newish ball and we have to see what we can do this morning.

"We have to be patient, make it difficult for them to score runs and make chances. It’s a featherbed wicket, very flat, it will be a challenge whatever target we are set bit it feels like a good wicket that is getting better. We feel we can chase anything 250 and up."

It was a disappointing day all round for England yesterday with the men struggling in the Test and the women beaten by New Zealand in the T20.

The women's match did provide one of the great stump cam replays through this Mady Villiers catch.

You can still watch highlights of that game on iPlayer if you fancy some double viewing.

To make up for the 20 or so minutes we lost yesterday for bad light play can continue today until 18:48 BST in the latest example of why cricket is absolutely bonkers.

    • Afternoon session: 13:40 - 15:40

India begin today 270-3, leading by 171 runs.

Any chase over 250 is tough, even if this pitch looks flat. England need wickets fast.

It's advantage India but if this series has taught us one thing it's things can change very quickly.
