Glorious from Joe Root. It is a loosener from Umesh Yadav, but the England skipper leans beautifully on a drive to pick up three. Textbook.

Umesh then oversteps too - India bowl a lot of no balls. Root wasn't far off edging that too. You really don't want to miss out on a wicket because of a no-ball today.

One point on that Malan run-out. I don't think there was a single there - it was badly judged by Hameed. But was Malan's dive a bit half-hearted? He slid in on his knees. A full-lengther might have saved him.

Here's the moment that nobody wants to see, but thousands of you will watch it...

It could be a crucial moment in this Test.

Umesh Yadav is coming back into the attack, to replace Ravindra Jadeja.

He got Joe Root with this absolute beauty in the first innings.

It is amazing what a run-out can do to a cricket match.

  7. Eng 124-2published at 57 overs

    Target 368

Joe Root, as he always does, is looking to be busy. He flicks through the leg side, and with fine leg being fine he looks for a second, but they wisely opt against it.

Haseeb Hameed is solid in defence to see out the rest of the over.

The momentum feels like like it has shifted significantly with that review.

Haseeb Hameed plays out a maiden from Ravindra Jadeja.

There's just over 10 minutes until lunch. England really can't afford to lose another wicket before the interval.

There were just nine runs off the bat in the previous eight overs before the run-out.

Joe Root and Haseeb Hameed work a single apiece through the leg side. Mohammed Siraj has started well.

WinViz has England at 12% and India at 32% now. Virat Kohli believes. He's clapping along with the India fans, encouraging them.

  12. Eng 121-2published at 54.1 overs

    Target 368

    Oh, a beauty!

Mohammed Siraj finds a little bit of nip back in, and it only just misses Joe Root's outside edge and stumps.

You know I said I was excited this morning? That has now turned into nerves.

I thought Hameed ran Malan out. Too tight.

Malan wasn't ready for the single. He wasn't really backing up.

  15. Eng 121-2published at 54 overs

We've just seen a replay of that run out from the point of view of Rishabh Pant, so we can see how Dawid Malan reacts to the call. He goes pretty quickly, but he's deep in the non-striker's crease, not looking for the single, and that is probably the difference between him surviving and being run out.

Haseeb Hameed has to forget that now, and just carrying on going. He blocks out the rest of Ravindra Jadeja's over.

He's off the mark with a sweep down to fine leg.

That is a huge breakthrough. Malan was handling Jadeja quite well. He will be gutted.

I thought the single was on.

  20. wicket

Malan run out (Agarwal) 5 (Eng 120-2)

    Oh, no.

Haseeb Hameed leans on a forward defence, and the ball just rolls out into the covers. He sets off pretty much straight away, and Dawid Malan hesitates for a millisecond, and he is short of his ground, despite bringing out the full length dive.

Mayank Agarwal did brilliantly in the covers. He's wearing pads, but gets across quickly, and even though his throw is a little high, Rishabh Pant has time to gather and get his hands down to whip the bails off.

A big, big blow for England.
