I'm still in my pyjamas - I'm going to get dressed by the session.

I still haven't decided what to wear.

Lovely from Dinesh Chandimal, darting forwards and turning a Dom Bess delivery into a full toss that he pumps for four.

It's going to be a really important series for Dom Bess. Don't forget that Moeen Ali is going to get a chance to come back at some stage.

  9. SL 40-3published at 15 overs

Short, too short, and Dinesh Chandimal hops onto the back foot and drives a healthy couple of runs through the covers.

A couple of bad balls from Dom Bess but Sri Lanka can't capitalise, and another sedate over tickles by.

Oh, Dom Bess is back now.

  11. How's stat?!published at 05:57 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2021

    Andy Zaltzman
    Test Match Special statistician

Sri Lanka's batsmen have struggled in Test cricket in recent years.

Collectively, since 2017, their batsmen have averaged 26.7 - that's only the seventh best of the nine Test-playing sides to play at least 10 times.

New Zealand lead the way with 37. England are fourth.

Sri Lanka could be in a bit of trouble if these two don't hang around - this is the recovery partnership really.

  13. SL 37-3published at 14 overs

Mark Wood will continue and Angelo Mathews swats a short ball away for a leisurely single.

The Galle fort looks magnificent in the background.

It is interesting to see that Dom Bess took a wicket and now Jack Leach is on.

I'm not quite sure what the thinking is there unless Bess is going to go down the other end, but surely Mark Wood wants to bowl more than two overs?

Maybe it's because of the two right handers.

  15. SL 35-3published at 13 overs

Some turn for Jack Leach, bringing Dinesh Chandimal forward, but a thick outside edge adds a couple of runs to the total.

Three men are camped around the bat but Leach just struggles to find his length before an absolute beauty goes ripping past Angelo Mathews' outside edge.

    Run rate 2.50

    Mark Wood's speeds in this over: 90mph, 91, 91, 92, 93, 92.

I know speed isn't everything and I know it's dependent on Wood being used sparingly and cleverly by Joe Root. But it's fun, isn't it?

    Vegan cocktail sausages!

Love the strange breakfasts you have when getting up for the cricket. So far this morning I've had two chocolate mini rolls, three teas, a coffee and some Haribo that I opened last night. Healthy.

Swapped the lie-in on my day off for a 4:30 start, so worth it for the early wickets! I've just nailed an entire box of vegetarian cocktail sausages to celebrate. Weird breakfast, I know, but it's a weird time of day.
