With a hint of swing on offer, Sam Curran is coming on. Dom Bess is out of the attack for now.
Anderson's hair is flapped around in the sea breeze throughout another maiden. It may be that wind that is helping Anderson here because the ball is definitely doing more than in the previous session.
There are groans from behind the stumps when Mathews leaves a ball that comes back close to off stump.
Mathews 27, Chandimal 6
I can confirm James Anderson is indeed human.
Chandimal pushes the ball to him at mid-on and sets off for a single. Anderson swoops in sensing a run-out but takes his eye off the ball and it runs through his legs and away for four.
Bess looks dismayed but he can hardly have a go at England's greatest.
Dom Bess - shades on - is going to have a whirl from the other end.

Arjun Singh: My goodness, Jimmy is incredible. Take a bow, son.
Skipper Dinesh Chandimal is next in. He's off the mark with a couple first up.

What a delivery - just what the captain wanted. It was perfectly pitched, the perfect angle and that little bit of movement brought him the feather of an edge. No wonder he's got 603 Test wickets.
Thirimanne c Buttler b Anderson 43 (SL 76-3)
Oh! Jimmy has only gone and done it again.
Anderson strikes with the second ball after lunch. Was the a hint of movement for him there? Quite possibly.
Lahiru Thirimanne gets a thin edge through to Jos Buttler.
Thirmanne 43, Mathews 26
A positive start from Tuffers.

I think England will be made to toil in this afternoon session.

England haven't really threatened a third wicket since Jimmy Anderson's two breakthroughs.
The iconic haircut.
Here come the players.
I have timed pouring my milk on my cereal terribly. Soggy cereal - not good.

Andy Shaw: I assume everyone has already mentioned Carlos Valderrama?
There's not a cloud in the sky in Galle. It looks really, really, hot. The players should emerge for the afternoon session shortly.
Jimmy Anderson's opening spell of the winter - his first spell his August - was five overs, two maidens, two wickets for four runs. Majestic.
Leach and Bess have looked pretty innocuous so far but to be fair to them there hasn't been much spin on offer.
