It has been a poor display by Sri Lanka but a brilliant performance from England.

The pace bowlers will be absolutely delighted that the spinners have delivered. They got a helping hand from the Sri Lanka batsman, who didn't play with any kind of application. They just gambled and panic. That's what happens when you're not used to winning.

The game is in the balance, but you'd expect England to get this score with the confidence they've been playing with but it will not be easy. It will do plenty for the spinners. If Joe Root gets a score England will win, but if Sri Lanka get him early they will have a sniff.

An incredible innings, that, really. Sri Lanka were 78-8, at which point they led by 115.

Lasith Embuldeniya's 40 has hurt England.

The game could go either way.

Gone first ball. How Fernando has managed to jam this ball onto his own stumps I do not know. A bonus wicket for England.

England will need 164 to win.

England will breath a sigh of relief there. It was a really valuable innings from Embuldeniya.

Joe Root is smiling again - he hasn't been for a while.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 35.4 overs

    Embuldeniya c Bairstow b Root 40 (SL 126-9)

A soft end to a really crucial innings from Sri Lanka's number 10 Lasith Embuldeniya. He has just guided the ball to Jonny Bairstow at slip off the bowling of Root. England won't care. They were desperate to see the back of him.

Sri Lanka are favourites now for me. Lakmal hits Bess down the ground. It's in the air but four.

Slip to spin is such a hard position if you don't do it very often. I found it really hard to learn.

Embuldeniya swung hard at a drive. Bairstow stuck up his left arm at slip and it has just hit him on the wrist. It was a tough chance.

It went quick but Bairstow got plenty of hand to it. These are the sort of chances that have to be taken.

This would have been an absolute screamer from Jonny Bairstow but down it goes.
