These are golden runs for Sri Lanka. Embuldeniya has had a massive say in this game.

  3. SL 119-8published at 32.2 overs

Big from Embuldeniya! England should be panicking now. One bounce and four.

  4. dropped catch

    SL 115-8published at 32.1 overs

Was this a drop off his own bowling by Dom Bess? It may have been. It's hard to tell if it was a bump ball.

I would bring a bit of pace on now.

Every four just increases that pressure on England.

Eeek. Embuldeniya hits back-to-back boundaries. Root looks frustrated.

I woke to people complaining Leach and Bess couldn't turn a ball on a corrugated roof. Today I wake up to this.

  13. SL 106-8published at 31 overs

    Lead by 143

Root has his arms folded as he stares down at the dusty pitch. He looks deep in thought. It's just tilting back into Sri Lanka's favour.

The bizarre thing about it is that even though Sri Lanka have batted badly, they are not out of this game.

  15. SL 105-8published at 30.3 overs

Is it now worth giving Mark Wood a burst? This is a very handy partnership. Embuldeniya has 25 from 22 balls.

This has been a really bad batting performance. Yes, you want to be positive and look to score, but it hasn't been that bad a pitch that you've had to play like this. We've seen all game that once you get a partnership going, it is hard for the opposition.

  17. Not outpublished at 07:50 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2021

The Sri Lanka spinner's effort at grounding his bat is pretty shoddy but he's in.

But Embuldeniya hasn't been lazily run out, has he?

My word! Lasith Embuldeniya. What a game you are having. He now punts Leach high back down the ground for a six.
