The slog sweeper: Mad that we’ve got on 530+ on the board and yet most English fans are still like... ‘We’re probably 100 runs shy ’ - it’s tough playing in India but I’ll take 550.

A maiden from Ishant Sharma. He'd love to take that 300th Test wicket tonight.

There are eight overs left in the day.

    Couldn't agree more, David.

I think England keep expecting Jofra Archer to deliver with the bat but he averages 8.12 in Test cricket. He definitely shouldn't be above Jack Leach.

David Johnson: Why do we keep putting Archer in before Leach? Leach can bat better and can hang around to support a batter from higher up the order. I’d be tempted to put Jack and Jimmy in ahead of Jofra while he gets his eye back in after a break.

A single apiece for Dom Bess and Jack Leach.

I'm surprised Virat Kohli hasn't turned to Jasprit Bumrah to be fair.

Tim in Dubai: Getting a few runs can only do Joe Root’s confidence good when he comes to bowl on this wicket.

  10. Eng 528-8published at 170 overs

Oh! Ishant Sharma draws an edge from Jack Leach but it falls short of Rohit Sharma, who is where a third slip would be.

    What an over from Ishant.

We feared this would happen. 525 is a good score but they would want more. They would love to get another 50 runs.

    UGH! Ishant Sharma overstepped anyway...

STOP BOWLING NO BALLS! Especially on a hat-trick ball! My days.

The wall that is Jack Leach is solidly in behind the hat-trick ball and picks up a single.

A beautiful in-swinger. Magnificent bowling. You've had a terrible day in the outfield and suddenly Ishant is on a hat-trick.

    Archer b Ishant 0 (Eng 525-8)

Jofra is gone first ball. Ishant is on a hat-trick and on 299 Test wickets.

That's just too good for Jofra Archer first up. He's late on it and an inside edge cannons into the stumps.

I love the reverse-swing bowling, the chaos and confusion it creates in the batsman's mind. Ishant was hiding the ball, the shine was for the orthodox outswinger and it's done the other. It's brilliant bowling. The deception is brilliant. To run up with the ball in your wrong hand and then to transfer it, with the seam and everything in the right place in your hand, it takes years of practice. It's not as easy as it looks.

Jos Buttler has been bowled leaving again.

Oh, Jos. It's never a good look, and he just doesn't expect the inswinger and he's left shouldering his arms as the ball cannons into off stump.

Can India wrap up the England innings tonight?
