    Pujara 35, Pant 26

Joe Root has positioned himself under the helmet at silly point. It's admirable but he doesn't want to get injured.

This is without doubt the best I have seen Dom Bess bowl. Another well-bowled delivery takes the inside part of Pujara's bat but drops short of short leg.

Pant plays a risky game but also plays an exciting game. It's brilliant cricket, it really is. It won't be long until Pant overtakes Pujara.

If this comes off from Rishabh Pant it'll be brilliant. If not then he would be wise to stay off Twitter for a while.

He has 25 from 16 balls already.

We saw Stokes counter-attack the spin yesterday and that's what Pant is doing now.

    Six more! Only just.

It's agonisingly out of Dan Lawrence's reach on the boundary rope.

    This could be fun.

Pant charges again. He's launched this one a mile.

It has gone swimmingly for Joe Root so far. Everything he's touched so far has turned to gold.

When you watch the Indian batsmen against spin they very rarely sweep so they are playing to the field that Joe Root has got set. I haven't seen one of them try and change the field that Joe Root has set by sweeping and that means you have to have more players behind square.

When Joe Root goes out to bat now they have to have a deep cover, a square leg behind square, a deep mid-wicket and it opens up more avenues to score.

With three men back on the leg side, Pant charges Leach and tries to smack him out of the rough. Brave? Or something else?

    England won't mind.

  11. 'Perfect display so far from England'published at 08:00 Greenwich Mean Time 7 February 2021

This is magnificent from England. It has been the perfect display so far.

Every bowler is contributing, Jimmy Anderson hasn't taken a wicket but he is probing and there have been plenty of dots after lunch. Jofra Archer with his bounce and pace and Dominic Bess has bowled with so much control.

Morning! I'm preparing to sneak downstairs stealth-like before the kids wake up in order for me to watch the cricket in peace with the dog and a cuppa before they come down and put Pokemon on. Wish me luck.

Dom Bess is human. He bowls a full toss and Pujara does not miss out. Four more.

Jack Leach is coming on in place of Jofra Archer.

  16. Ind 88-4published at 30.5 overs

Pujara is the big wicket now. He can take the legs out of the England bowlers by batting on and on and on.

He uses his feet and drives Bess down through mid-off for four.

Dom Bess has just got overs under his belt in Sri Lanka and it is just coming out nicely - the rhythm is there. He is just bowling slightly fuller, and slightly wider of off stump. It is as simple as that.

He bowled too straight in Sri Lanka and you've got to have that consistency. He was out of nick in Sri Lanka because he hadn't bowled that much so those overs under his belt have just helped him find some rhythm and he's bowling a better line and length, more consistently.

    Test cricket. Nothing beats it.

Archer responds to those two boundaries with four dot balls to Pant. If you're just waking up, this is really happening.

West Indies remain on course for registering the fifth highest successful run-chase in Chittagong. They are 250-3, needing another 145 for victory. Debutant Kyle Mayers is 100 not out, which is the highest score of any West Indian batsman in the fourth innings in Asia. Full scorecard here.

Back-to-back boundaries from Pant off the bowling of Archer. Is the supremely talented wicketkeeper-batsman going to counter-attack?
