Bessariltharan trots up and spins the ball into the red Chennai dirt once more. Pant gets off the mark with a three through mid-wicket.

The Virat Kohli line was beautiful. It was just ever so slightly wider.

Dom Bess has taken so much from the Sri Lanka series. He is just going through the roof now. He has bowled better - he has bowled a better line and length.

With all this going on, Chesteshwar Pujara is still there at the other end as he always is.
Virat Kohi is out of his whites and is watching from the dressing room. He looks a little stunned.
The screams of delight/amazement when Root took that catch...

Ben Wire: Just stubbed my toe leaping out of bed to get to the TV. Dom Bess is a dangerous man.
Jofra is back. Root is going for it.
Never in their wildest dreams would England have expected this a few days ago.

It is sort of dreamland for England.

It is an absolute stonker of a catch. India look rattled here. Rishabh Pant only plays one way.
England are in a fantastic position.
This match just keeps getting better and better for England. They added another 23 runs in 40 minutes this morning. The sensational Jofra Archer removed both openers before lunch and now Dom Bess has removed Kohli and Rahane.
The players are taking a drink. I need one.

That is an absolutely brilliant catch but it is a gift from Rahane.
We talk about this poor match that India are having, they are really off the pace of it.
Rahane c Root b Bess 1 (Ind 73-4)
WHAT. A. CATCH!!!!!
Joe Root that is absolutely incredible. A worldie.
Rahane times a full toss from Bess nicely but Root dives to his left and clings onto the ball one-handed.
He can do no wrong.
Rahane flicks Bess agonisingly short of Rory Burns at mid-wicket. Bess actually does look like Swann right now.

To give some context to how important that wicket is. In his last two series against England, Virat Kohli scored 655 runs in India, averaging 109, and in England 593 runs at an average of 59.3.
His recent Test form has been patchy. He made 259 against South Africa in 2019, but since then he has been out for less than 20 in eight of his 10 innings. He got a century against Bangladesh and 74 against Australia in Adelaide.

We've just seen Bess' celebrations of the Kohli wicket again. He whipped off his sunglasses, ran away in delight and punched the air.
Ollie Pope looked like a kid handed the biggest bag of candy floss at the fairground as the ball looped to him at short leg.

India are in serious trouble now.
