What surprised me most about Dom Bess is that he padded up to an over of Nadeem. At least try a revese sweep!
England bowled out for 178 - India need 420 to win or to bat for just over a day
Root top-scores with 40; six wickets for Ashwin
England choose not to enforce follow-on but lose Burns first ball
Ishant takes 300th Test wicket by dismissing Lawrence lbw
Two wickets each for Leach and Anderson as India bowled out for 337

Washington Sundar does extremely well at the third man boundary to keep Dom Bess to three.
Ishant Sharma is back on by the way.

Ali Campbell: No comment on the UB40 fame but I'll certainly be having some red red wine when we skittle the Indians tomorrow ;)

Joe Root is still in his England training gear. It doesn't look like the declaration is imminent.
Shahbaz Nadeem is just bowling outside leg stump from around the wicket. Jos Buttler tries to sweep/flat-bat away but doesn't catch any cleanly.
When he does make connection he finds fine leg on two separate occasions. There's no sign of England taking a quick single either.
Where is the intent?

Robin Johnson: Dom Bess kicking the ball away- almost like he’s deliberately trying to annoy all the “declare now” optimists out there.
Taylor: Confusing this by England. Why is Bess defending? Very odd.
TomRogers FFC: This is really negative cricket from England here

Just a single again from Jasprit Bumrah's over.
England have scored two runs in three overs. Mind boggling.

I wonder if England might use Ben Stokes a bit more on the fifth day?

Looking at this pitch, and how the seam bowlers are scuttling it through, I think Jofra Archer will be ideal on this surface.

I'm not going to question England here, but Dom Bess is padding up to Shahbaz Nadeem.
He keeps looking at the scoreboard too like he knows something has to give.
Either declare or hit out now, surely?
I had to Google UB40 so I can neither confirm or deny it is THE Ali Campbell.

Comfy Records: Is that Ali Campbell from UB40 commenting (9:06 GMT)?

It is not easier to score quick runs against a quality bowler like Jasprit Bumrah. Dom Bess can only work a single into the on side.
Jofra Archer is padded up in the England changing room by the way.

Please don't let Kohli stay off the field, Rahane has not lost a Test as captain!

Dom Bess is off the mark straight away as he comes down the track and chips over Ravichandran Ashwin at mid-on for a couple. He keeps the strike with a nudge into the leg side.
Virat Kohli has been off the field at the start of this session. Nothing to worry about I don't think - he was having a conversation with a member of the backroom staff initially.

Everything England do now is for the cause - a few slogs, the odd boundary, then get bowling.
Dom Bess strides out to the middle to join Jos Buttler.

They're getting going now. We haven't seen a lot of Pope - obviously - the start of his career was wonderful.
Pope c Rohit b Nadeem 28 (Eng 130-6)
He goes for it again and he is caught at cover.
Boooo!

Outrageous from Ollie Pope!
He's just reverse swept, from the rough, on about 13th stump outside leg stump, through the covers for four.
Tremendous stuff.
Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem is coming back on from the other end.
