Ashwin went for eight off that last over. Not everything is going perfectly for him today!

My head would be spinning trying to do anything in an atmosphere like this. I can hardly concentrate well enough to type. Burns uses his feet well and gets four down the ground.

They've got for Pant as a batsman but he does drop chances behind the stumps...

Burns dropped on 7published at 5.3 overs

Burns gets a thick edge to Ashwin and Pant can't hold on.

In fairness to Ashie if he's ever going to have a pop at his team-mates today would be the day. He has credit in the bank. He has a little moan. Nothing too serious.

  8. Eng 9-0published at 5 overs

    Burns 7, Sibley 2

Someone text in earlier to say Rory Burns looks like he's off to a medieval re-enactment with his long hair. I can see it. He looks like he's going to still look to score in this almost impossible situation.

The next Test will be incredibly different. The atmospheric conditions, bowling with the pink ball - are we going to see it do a bit more under lights? Jimmy Anderson will probably come into it...

  10. Eng 8-0published at 4 overs

Dom Sibley is off the mark. England have gone from playing in front of some groundsmen and Randy Caddick to this bowl of deafening noise.

  11. Eng 8-0published at 3.2 overs

A lot of divine intervention is needed I think. It's about to get a whole lot tougher too. Ravichandran Ashwin must have been in the shower for the first over. The man of the moment has arrived for a bowl.

England can do this - two days and glorious weather, what more do they need?! (Apart from divine intervention)

    Target 482

Kohli is whistling again, waving to the crowd asking for more like a rock star. Now he claps the beat he wants them to provide. Rishabh Pant joins in with his hands above his head. It's more gig than cricket match.

    Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner on The Cricket Social

If they get the conditions and things go their way, England have the batting to get big scores. England definitely aren't out of it - well, they're out of this one!

"Your TV will turn off in 30 seconds because of inactivity". Is my TV trying to spare this painful experience? After a moment's panic trying to find the remote, I can tell you that Axar has ripped a couple past Sibley's edge. Big, big turn.

India have more batters that can cope with this and better spinners. That's just the facts.

  17. Postpublished at 10:25 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2021

Axar Patel is going to share the new ball. It seems Ashwin is taking a breather. That or Kohli is just messing with England's heads.

Ernie Chan: As difficult this pitch is, India and Ashwin have showed England how a bit more application, patience and one or two good partnerships means that it’s not entirely unplayable. Well played Ashwin.

Ross: 482 in 200 overs available. Easy...

J S Villiers: Cracking day for Rory Burns to get his first double century.

    Target 482

There have been a few of those, Martin. Karun Nair's 300? Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh racking them up at Perth? If there are others, feel free to remind me.

Rory Burns is at least off his pair. As the guys on The Cricket Social have said, he needs runs to secure his place for the third Test, as does Dan Lawrence.
