One way to disrupt Ben Foakes is to try to injure him. With Foakes standing up to Broad, Ashwin goes down for a scoop, leaving Foakes ducking for cover. In the end it's given as four leg byes, despite the pads being nowhere near it.

Spare a thought for Rory Burns. The bloke's on a pair... as soon as England go out to bat there will be four men round the bat and every run will feel so hard to get.

Kuldeep lbw Moeen 3 (Ind 210-8)

The ball before ragged past Kuldeep Yadav's outside edge, with the next one a straight-break that thundered into the front pad. Too much for a number nine to handle. Moeen Ali has eight wickets in the match.

It's turned a tiny bit, but the ball before turned a foot and a half. This one has turned two inches. The accidental straight-onner!

    Out. Just out.

Moeen Ali into Kuldeep Yadav's front pad. Think Graeme Swann to every left-hander he ever bowled at.

If he stands back, Ashwin would be batting a yard or so outside the crease to nullify lbw.

    Even Ben Foakes makes mistakes.

Standing up to Stuart Broad, he puts down a thick edge off Ravichandran Ashwin. Very tough when he's standing up, would have been regulation standing back. But would Ashwin have played that shot if he didn't have Foakes breathing down his neck?

    The great keeping conundrum...

    Shaving the bails!

Virat Kohli is on his way, undone for the second time in the match by Moeen Ali. It's turned back into the skipper, but there's no real reason for him to miss it. A bit soft, really.

Could you envisage Foakes being the wicketkeeper and number seven, and Jos Buttler batting as a specialist number six? Could Pope bat at three, or Bairstow? I don't remember a 'keeper keeping as well as this.

On The Cricket Social, Michael Vaughan's dogs are barking. On the subject of dogs, Rory Burns' long mullet has me in mind of an Afghan Hound. I'll see if we can work on a split pic of Rory and an Afghan, then you'll see what I mean.
