Calm in Chennai, even when Kohli is on strike. There's a smattering of applause when he pushes a single to mid-off, but nothing more than that. The crowd now that the game continues, but the contest is paused until England bat again.

Whilst playing on our travels for Sumner CC in Christchurch NZ, our game against Heathcote was stopped by a parachutist who pretty much landed on the wicket. Duly gathered his bits and bobs and scuttled off - the local lads made it seem like it happened every day!!

Kohli loves a challenge, and he'll want to show everyone that he can score a century on this pitch. And maybe to send a message that this pitch isn't as bad as it looks - but it is!

Ominous for England, perhaps not for this match, but the rest of the series.

The India skipper follows up his runs in the second innings of the first Test with more here. Virat Kohli moving to a half-century in 107 balls. Embarrassed in the first innings, he's been all business in the second.

When you see Foakes keep wicket you just forget what proper hand speed is. Not only getting the hands in the right place, but the speed at which he gets the bails off. It's just in a different league.

Ashwin on strike. In his press conference last night, he got asked about comparing England playing on this pitch to India playing in English conditions. If the ball is moving off the surface, Ashwin said it must be easier to bat if the movement is for slow bowlers, rather than those up around 90mph.

More often than not there's a little explosion in the surface when the ball lands. If you filmed it close up, you could use it as an effect in a war film. After sweeping Moeen for four, Kohli has a huge grin on his face. He's on 48...

A couple of Ben Foakes stats from that extraordinary display of wicketkeeping - he now has five stumpings from his four Tests in Asia. That's already the most stumpings of any England wicketkeeper in Asia, in just his fourth Test.

No England wicketkeeper has ever made four stumpings in one Test.

There's a nice hum in Chennai. The crowd has been about 10,000 on each of the first two days. The odd horn, a whistle. Ashwin, on his home ground, is dancing at Leach, thrusting a big pad towards the ball.

Great Chishill v Isleham in the Cambridgeshire leagues saw play temporarily suspended due to a stray dreadlock on the wicket. 'Lucas', our burly Kiwi blacksmith had only had the dreads stitched in days before the game, and his energetic bowling action was just too much for one of these chunky locks of leftover hair from the barbershop floor. Safe to say, this was a first for all involved.

When Kohli played this shot in the first innings, he lost his off bail. No mistake this time, though, reaching to drive Moeen through the covers. He was batting in a cap on day one, Virat. Now it's a helmet. Lid = focus.

Compared to India's, England's bowlers are second division. That is why India felt they can take England on in these conditions.

Jack Leach at the other end. Has there been a time in this Test when he hasn't been bowling? Just one from the over. Have we settled the debate on the identity of England's number one spinner now?

Kohli is excited. Wanting a single when the ball goes to short fine leg, only to be sent back. He was chatty in the first session, Virat. I think think the first Test had him still becalmed in the time since becoming a father. Now he's had some time with the lads, he's back to his feisty self.

England had the better of the first Test; India have had the better of the second Test. England are in a great position after two Tests.
