It'll be very interesting to see what this new ball does.

Rishabh Pant is great, isn't he?

Another good decision by the on-field umpire.

    Yep, missing!

    Rishabh, on 74, can continue.

  6. Postpublished at 10:18 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2021

Well, Rishabh hasn't hit it, but it's hit him quite high on the knee.

  7. England reviewpublished at 10:18 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2021

Joe Root strikes Rishabh on the pad and pleads with the umpire...

...not out, but he sends it upstairs.

    Oh, shot!

An absolutely glorious sweep this time for Rishabh Pant for four. What an innings this is.

  9. Ind 213-6published at 78.3 overs

    Four!

Rishabh Pant has a huge sweep at Joe Root, toe-ends it over the keeper's head, and it ends up being poor Ben Stokes who has to chase after it as it rolls into the boundary.

Tom: As much as people are blaming Bess, surely the blame lies with Root and the selectors and how they’ve messed with his confidence, and their team selection?

  11. Ind 209-6published at 78 overs

    Lead by 4

Please, let Ben Stokes have a sit down.

  12. Ind 209-6published at 77.5 overs

Oh, that's a slower ball that's gone seven shades of wrong, and Ben Stokes will have to bowl it again.

Look at how tired Ben Stokes looks. He's bowled and bowled and bowled and probably won't have much rest before he's out there batting again.

  14. India take the leadpublished at 77.5 overs

Another easy pull through mid-off for Rishabh Pant, and he's given India the lead!

Ben Stokes looks, understandably, tired. He's shown such heart and effort today.

  15. Ind 205-6published at 77.3 overs

Rishabh Pant! He makes the scores level with the most delightful swivel-pull for four.

    Edged - and four!

Rishabh Pant has a huge swing at Ben Stokes and gets enough bat on ball to edge it over the slip cordon for four. That's India's 200 up.

Joe Root would've wanted to save Ben Stokes until the new ball was available but he must think he needs a wicket as soon as possible.

Moeen actually said in January that he feels he has unfinished business in Test cricket. His break in 2019 was taken to prolong his international career in all three formats, not just white-ball. I think Moeen still has a lot of desire to play Test cricket, and I still think he's been messed around more than most players in terms of what his role is in the team, from everything from where he bats to what his role is with the ball.

I just think Moeen Ali is more interested now in playing in all the T20 leagues around the world. That's not a criticism at all - it's the nature of the modern player and it's absolutely fine if they want to do that.
