Worcestershire (405-8) trail Essex (490-9 dec) by 85 runs

Essex's long winning run at Chelmsford, that stretches back to 2018, looks certain to end this afternoon after Jake Libby and Ed Barnard came within 13 runs of setting a new Worcestershire seventh wicket record.

Barnard's maiden century will be an innings he long remembers and Libby is now just 19 short of his own career best and looks likely to carry his bat.

It's been a phenomenal effort in a rearguard situation.

Essex have been frustrated by a flatter than normal Chelmsford pitch combined with Worcestershire's resilience.

The hosts will still surely qualify for division one but Worcestershire, on this evidence, also have a great chance if they can convert strong positions to wins later in the campaign.

  9. Will snow arrive again to save Yorkshire?published at 13:21 British Summer Time 11 April 2021

    Yorkshire (193 & 32-2) need 347 more runs to beat Glamorgan (330 & 241-4 dec)

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales at Headingley

Glamorgan enjoyed a near-perfect first session against Yorkshire as they claimed two home wickets following unbeaten centuries from Billy Root (110 not out) and Chris Cooke (102 not out).

Root had the pleasure of reaching three figures with a legside clip for two off brother Joe, who had been brought into the attack to try to prevent the milestone.

Cooke accelerated towards three figures and marched off as soon as he had got there, leaving his bowlers 76 overs to do their work as Yorkshire were set 379 at nearly five an over.

An accurate opening spell from Timm van der Gugten saw Tom Kohler-Cadmore caught behind before Michael Hogan won a borderline lbw shot against Tom Loten on the stroke of lunch, leaving Yorkshire hoping for long innings from Adam Lyth and Joe Root, or another weather intervention.

Notts lost their third wicket of the day right on the cusp of lunch.

After the early dismissals of Haseeb Hameed (0) and Ben Duckett (12) to the bowling of Chris Rushworth, the hosts then settled, as has been the pattern in this game.

Ben Slater and Joe Clarke put on 67 for the third wicket, but in the run up to the break the pressure started to tell.

Following five maidens in a row from the Durham attack, Matt Salisbury then got the breakthrough.

Clarke, on 38, edged low to David Bedingham at first slip and he held onto the chance. It was Salisbury's 100th first-class wicket and came at a crucial moment. Slater will resume after the break on 35.

So far the weather has held off at Trent Bridge, but we are receiving reports of snow showers in other parts of the city.

  11. 'Tempers boiling over'published at 13:15 British Summer Time 11 April 2021

    Lancashire 407 v Sussex 301 & 94-2 - lunch, day four

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

An absorbing morning of cricket, which at times threatened to boil over.

The umpires needed to intervene as tempers flared, as Sussex slowly but steadily reduced the arrears to 12 runs at lunch.

Aaron Thomason has shown huge application and concentration opening the innings facing 177 balls for his 41.

The draw still looks the most likely result, but early Lancashire wickets after lunch could still make for an absorbing finish.

  13. 'Tense finish at Lord's'published at 13:11 British Summer Time 11 April 2021

Middlesex v Somerset 187-6 (target 285) - lunch, day four

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

There's a tense finish in store at Lord's where Somerset are making a fine fist of chasing 285 in a low scoring game.

The visiting captain, Tom Abell, led the way with a fantastic and chanceless 84 but was removed by Middlesex's very own baby-faced assassin Ethan Bamber - the hosts' leading wicket taker in an esteemed attack.

Credit to his skipper Steven Eskinazi for switching Bamber from a long opening spell at the Pavilion immediately to the Nursery End where he made the crucial breakthrough.

It's a cold but sunny day and neither are playing in the favour of the bowlers' attempts to swing the ball but the tight lines and the lengths - delivered throughout from both sides - are a hard task on any pitch at any time of year.

    Clarke c Bedingham b Salisbury 38 (Nottinghamshire 267 & 88-3 v Durham 330 & 332-4 dec)

Big breakthrough for Durham right on the stroke of lunch at Trent Bridge.

Matt Salisbury bowls a lovely ball that squares up Joe Clarke and his leading edge has just enough on it to reach the hands of David Bedingham at first slip.

Third-wicket partnership worth 67 comes to an end.
