A moment that will no doubt be talked about in the Root family for decades to come at Headingley.

Billy Root reaches his fifth first-class century as he clips brother Joe's off-spin for two runs into the legside.

Brings up his landmark off 210 balls in a knock that has included nine fours and a six.

A congratulatory fist bump from his brother comes once he's taken the applause of his team-mates on the balcony.

Glamorgan edging closer to their declaration.

Jim Dale: Sooo many centuries & ducks across the counties in week one. Lots of 40-3s becoming 300-6 too. Great maiden century for Ed Barnard for Worcestershire. Great to have Championship cricket back.

Big early scalp for Durham at Trent Bridge.

Haseeb Hameed is bowled for a duck by Chris Rushworth to get their fourth innings off to a poor start.

Off-stump cartwheeling out of the ground in emphatic fashion.

  11. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 11 April 2021

    Middlesex v Somerset 123-3 (target 285)

Unconvincing from George Bartlett, but it brings him four.

Ethan Bamber finds a bit of bounce and Bartlett squirts the ball uncomfortably down to the third-man rope.

    162 to win.

    Leicestershire (220 & 292-8 f/o) trail Hampshire (612-5 dec) by 118 runs

  14. Postpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 11 April 2021

Lancashire v Sussex 44-0 (trail by 62 runs)

Another side looking for quick wickets this morning are Lancashire.

But Sussex openers Aaron Thomason and first-innings centurion Tom Haines have looked in decent touch so far.

The draw is probably favourite at Old Trafford.

Elsewhere in Group 3 (Yorkshire's group), Northants are 315-5 in their first innings, replying to Kent's first-innings 455, and that game is also likely to end in a draw.

  15. Glamorgan bat onpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 11 April 2021

    Glamorgan (330 & 171-4) lead Yorkshire (193) by 308 runs

No declaration at Headingley yet from Glamorgan who have pushed their lead past 300 over Yorkshire.

They lost the last two sessions of play yesterday after a heavy sleet shower at lunch covered the outfield in a white blanket.

Billy Root (84 not out) and captain Chris Cooke (60 not out) continue their fifth-wicket partnership for now.

  16. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 11 April 2021

    Gloucestershire v Surrey 235-5 (lead by 129)

An exciting finish could be in store in Bristol where Ben Foakes (83 not out) and Jordan Clark (24 not out) are in the middle for Surrey.

Quick wickets for Gloucestershire this morning and they may have a very manageable chase on their hands.

England wicketkeeper Foakes is eyeing his 11th first-class hundred.

  17. Durham declarepublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 11 April 2021

    Nottinghamshire (267 & 0-0) need 396 runs to beat Durham (330 & 332-4 dec)

    Martin Emmerson
BBC Radio Newcastle at Trent Bridge

It's game on here in a sunny, but chilly, Nottingham.

Durham have declared on 332-4 in their second innings, thanks to a club-record fifth wicket stand of 254 from Ned Eckersley (113 not out) and a career-best 180 not out from South African David Bedingham.

It means Notts have to chase 396 to win on the final day, which would seem improbable. If they do it, it will be an amazing achievement. If they don't, their winless run in championship cricket will stretch to 28 games.

Durham's last win in the opening round of matches was at Taunton in 2015. If they can win this one it will be their first championship victory in eight games, having gone through the five-game Bob Willis Trophy season last year without a victory.

  18. Postpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 11 April 2021

    Middlesex v Somerset 112-3 (target 285)

Play is under way at Lord's with Somerset needing another 173 runs to beat Middlesex.

The hosts require another seven wickets. You'd put Middlesex still as favourites, but Tom Abell may be the key for Somerset. The skipper resumes on 62 with George Bartlett also at the crease.
