    Gloucestershire v Surrey 318-6 (lead by 212)

Surrey's sixth-wicket stand of 131 comes to an end as Jordan Clark is bowled by Matt Taylor for 52.

Probably too late to set up a Gloucestershire chase unless Surrey want to make it interesting by declaring.

I was just about to type that Yorkshire's openers had negotiated the first eight overs without too much alarm....

But then Tom Kohler-Cadmore gets a fine outside edge off Timm van der Gugten through to Glamorgan wicketkeeper and captain Chris Cooke to depart for just four.

Adam Lyth (14 not out) joined by Tom Loten at first drop with around 67 more overs left in the day.

The other game in Yorkshire's group is heading for a draw at Wantage Road. Northants are 370-6 against Kent in their first innings, 85 behind, and Rob Keogh is a couple short of a century.

The Somerset wicketkeeper is struck on the pad by Ethan Bamber from around the wicket and up goes the finger.

Another big wicket for Middlesex who are right back in this game. Somerset still need 110 to win as Craig Overton comes in at seven.

It's been a long time coming, but Essex have finally taken another wicket against Worcestershire.

Dan Lawrence has got a ball to turn back through the gate on maiden first-class centurion Ed Barnard to end his fine innings on 128.

It ends the Pears' seventh-wicket partnership of 244. Worcestershire now 389-7 in reply to Essex's 490-9 dec.

Meanwhile at Edgbaston, Derbyshire continue to stand firm against Warwickshire in their second innings.

Matt Critchley and Harvey Hosein have survived the morning session so far to move them on to 139-5 which is a lead of 107.

    There's the wicket Middlesex needed.

Tom Abell tries to steer Ethan Bamber off the outside edge of the bat again but snicks it to John Simpson who takes a fine catch standing up.

Game on with Somerset still needing 122 for victory. Middlesex require six more wickets.

  16. 100 runs

for Chris Cookepublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 11 April 2021

    Glamorgan (330 & 241-4 dec) lead Yorkshire (193) by 378 runs

A century for Glamorgan captain Chris Cooke as that also signals his side's declaration.

Cooke gets there with his eighth four off Dom Bess to go alongside a six as well in that 213-ball effort.

He and Billy Root (110 not out) finish up with a record fifth-wicket partnership for Glamorgan against Yorkshire worth 212.

That will mean Yorkshire will need 379 to win in theory, but in reality they will have around 75 overs to bat out for a draw.

Middlesex might need to put a third man in.

George Bartlett squirts the umpteenth boundary down to that region off Toby Roland-Jones as Somerset go past 150.

They need another 132 for victory and are now surely favourites.

Not a bad comeback considering they were 89-9 in their first innings, still trailing by more than 200.

Kyle Abbott and Mohammad Abbas quickly accounted for Gavin Griffiths and Alex Evans to complete an comprehensive innings victory for a side which looks well equipped to challenge for the County Championship this season.

It was a hugely impressive performance in every respect - well, almost every respect.

The manner of Hassan Azad's "dismissal" by wicketkeeper Lewis McManus will be a talking point for a long time, but putting it to one side for a moment, Hampshire were simply far too good for Paul Nixon's inexperienced Leicestershire, though the Foxes battled hard in their second innings on an outstanding pitch for the time of year.

Full and wide from Ethan Bamber and Somerset batsman George Bartlett punches the ball through the covers.

Bartlett is up to 20 and his side need another 137 to win. Middlesex need a breakthrough in the Lord's sunshine.
