  1. wicket

Northamptonshire 177 all outpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

Mix up as number 11 Ben Sanderson hesitates coming back for a second and is run out by Steven Croft.

Simon Kerrigan is left stranded on 45 not out. Lancashire lead by 128 runs with 15 overs left before stumps.

    Essex 96 & 139-4 v Durham 259

Durham have another one as Dan Lawrence pulls a Brydon Carse's delivery straight into the hands of Will Young.

Lawrence falls for 76 off 123 deliveries. That's a big wicket and Essex will have to rebuild yet again.

Durham still lead by nine runs.

    Lancashire 305 v Northamptonshire 169-9

What a ball from Matthew Parkinson. Unplayable, it's turned square!

No shame in getting bowled to that as Adam Rossington falls for 49.

Lancashire are in control again. Nine down, one to go.

  5. Postpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Glamorgan 285 v Sussex 436-6

Maximum bonus points, a 100-run partnership and a lead nearing 150.

Everything's going right for Sussex today.

George Garton (82 not out) and Ollie Robinson (45 not out) remain unfazed in the middle.

    Derbyshire 390 v Worcestershire 185-5

Worcestershire aren't out of this one just yet as Riki Wessels (40 not out) and Ben Cox (16 not out) bring up another 50 partnership for the visitors.

They're still 202 runs behind Derbyshire's mammoth first-innings total, but they're adding runs at a rapid rate now.

  7. Postpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Nottinghamshire 273 & 28-1 v Warwickshire 201-9

Nottinghamshire have seen off Warwickshire's attack without too much trouble and have stretched their lead to 100.

England's Olly Stone has just come out of the attack for the Bears and has been replaced by Tim Bresnan.

And a big wicket in Chelmsford too as Essex skipper Tom Westley edges Brydon Carse to David Bedingham at first slip.

That brings an end to Westley's 103-run partnership with Tom Lawrence (72 not out). Essex are now just 35 runs away from making Durham bat again.

Big, big wicket as in-form Darren Stevens is trapped lbw by Harry Brook for 52.

Matthew Milnes joins Grant Stewart (24 not out) in the middle.

    Lancashire 305 v Northamptonshire 150-8

What a ninth-wicket stand this is turning out to be for Northamptonshire as skipper Adam Rossington (37 not out) and Simon Kerrigan (30 not out) take the visitors past 150.

The pair had joined each other on 87-8 with the possibility of a follow-on looming. Lancashire are still ahead by 155 runs.

    Glamorgan 285 v Sussex 397-6

George Garton becomes the latest Sussex player to move to 50. And he's now raced past the milestone onto 62 from 78 balls.

Glamorgan can't seem to stop the runs flowing as Sussex chase a fourth batting point after just 97 overs.

    The lead is 112.

  12. 'Middlesex have one shot'published at 16:42 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Hampshire 319 & 38-2 v Middlesex 79

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

Middlesex have one shot at turning this match around after a stunning display by Mohammed Abbas for Hampshire.

The visitors found themselves in a near unassailable position over Somerset last week but lost 56-8 to allow their opponents back in to win the match.

That's a near identical situation that they find themselves on the wrong end of at Southampton. Abbas seamed the ball menacingly on full length and destroyed the top order - taking the first six to fall.

The hosts were 2-2, having elected not to force the follow on, and if Middlesex are to have a chance in the chase they must force a collapse this evening or it will be a long couple of days with those teeing up what would seem an inevitable win.

    Nottinghamshire 273 & 3-1 v Warwickshire 201-9

An early wicket for Warwickshire as England's Olly Stone traps Ben Slater leg before for two.

The Bears will need plenty more of that this evening session if they want to get anything out of this game.

    Nottinghamshire lead by 75.

    Hampshire 319 & 38-2 v Middlesex 79

After that very early wobble that saw them slip to 2-2, Hampshire have recovered well through Ian Holland (16 not out) and Sam Northeast (21 not out).

And a half-century for Darren Stevens!

The 44-year-old, named one of Wisden's cricketers of the year earlier this week, has passed fifty for Kent today.

  16. 50 runs

50 for Dan Lawrencepublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Essex 96 & 95-2 v Durham 259

Dan Lawrence impressed in an England shirt over the winter and now he's impressed for Essex today.

His half-bury has dragged the county champions to within 68 runs of Durham and kept the match very much alive.

  17. wicket

Warwickshire 201 all outpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

That seemed to end all very quickly for Warwickshire, who lose Oliver Hannon-Dalby for a three-ball duck to end the innings.

Remember, Dominic Sibley was unable to bat because of a fractured finger. It's not yet clear whether he'll play any further part in the second innings.

As it is, Dane Paterson finishes with three wickets and Nottinghamshire hold a first-innings lead of 72.

  18. wicket

WICKET Burns (lbw Parkinson) 36published at 16:15 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Surrey 93-3 v Leicestershire 375

Callum Parkinson has pinned England opener Rory Burns in front and he's out for 36.

It's a wicket that brings about tea and Leicestershire will be really pleased with their work this afternoon. They've stuck at it.

  19. Postpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Nottinghamshire 273 v Warwickshire 201-8

Nottinghamshire love the first over of a session!

Just as Stuart Broad did first thing this morning and immediately after lunch, Dane Paterson takes his first wicket of the club after tea by dismissing Tim Bresnan.

And he repeats the trick in his following over, too, seeing off Michael Burgess.

  20. Teapublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Kent 193-6 v Yorkshire 379

Speaking of fightbacks, Kent have done well to recover from 86-5 during the afternoon session.

Thanks largely to the veteran Darren Stevens' unbeaten 49, they're now 193-6 - although still a chunky 186 runs behind Yorkshire.
