    And another one!

George Bartlett falls first ball after nicking Dominic Goodman behind and Gloucestershire very much have their tails up.

  2. wicket

WICKET Banton (c Dent b Taylor) 18published at 12:34 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Somerset 312 & 36-3 v Gloucestershire

Somerset are in a bit of trouble here.

Matt Taylor, just brought into the attack, finds the outside edge of England white-ball player Tom Banton and Chris Dent takes a smart catch in the slips.

Somerset's lead is only 39 and already they've lost their top three batsmen.

    Lancashire 305 & 123-2 v Northamptonshire 177

Curse of the commentator Scott as Josh Bohannon is bowled by Rob Keogh the very next ball.

He falls for 22, Lancashire skipper Dane Vilas is the new man in.

  4. 'Kerrigan has a side injury'published at 12:28 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Lancashire 305 & 122-2 v Northamptonshire 177

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Northamptonshire are a bowler light on a day when they might need all their resources to stay in the match.

The first-innings star, Simon Kerrigan, has a side injury which he suffered while batting and hasn’t taken to the field this morning.

Two wickets in the opening two overs was the perfect start for Northants but since then an unbeaten 50 partnership between Josh Bohannon and Steven Croft is further strengthening Lancashire’s grip on the game.

  5. wicket

WICKET Foakes (b Klein) 87published at 12:26 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Surrey 331-4 v Leicestershire 375

England wicketkeeper Ben Foakes is bowled by Dieter Klein just 13 runs of a century.

Foakes struck nine fours during his patient 230-ball knock.

Jamie Smith has joined Ollie Pope in the middle, with Pope still unbeaten on 136.

  6. Postpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Kent 265-9 v Yorkshire 379 & 75-1

Back to Canterbury and Adam Lyth does get his 50 off 59 balls.

That's four half-centuries in four innings for the 33-year-old this summer. Incredible stuff.

  7. new ball

'Durham won't want to chase anything too great'published at 12:23 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Essex 96 & 258-7 v Durham 259

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham have taken the new ball in Chelmsford but are yet to find success with it.

The only wicket to fall today came with the third delivery of the morning as Ben Raine got Simon Harmer for six.

Since then Paul Walter has moved on to get his first half-century in Championship cricket. He has 71 and Ben Allison a career-best 28.

Durham won't want to be chasing anything too great if they are to win their first game in nine and end Essex's unbeaten run at the ground at 12 matches.

    Kent 265-9 v Yorkshire 379 & 68-1

Adam Lyth has been brilliant for Yorkshire so far today. The former England opener has moved onto 46 not out, with Tom Loten just getting set on 14 not out at the other end.

Kent hand the ball to in-form Darren Stevens. Can the 44-year-old get a much-needed wicket for the hosts?

  9. 'Sussex must have high hopes'published at 12:17 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Glamorgan 285 & 43-2 v Sussex 481

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Ollie Robinson struck two crucial early blows for Sussex as they looked to cash in on a first-innings lead of 196 over Glamorgan.

There’ve now been 13 lbw decisions in the match as Robinson won the verdict against David Lloyd on 19 and Nick Selman on 11 in successive overs.

Earlier Robinson himself fell leg-before to Michael Hogan to the third ball of the day, without addition to his overnight 67.

Sussex must have high hopes of pressing home their advantage today or early tomorrow despite a fine batting wicket.

  10. Hampshire set Middlesex 531 to winpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Hampshire 319 & 290-4 dec v Middlesex 79

Hampshire captain James Vince, dismissed for a duck earlier this morning, has seen enough and opts to declare.

Ian Holland finishes 146 not out - and innings that included 18 fours and one six and came off 186 deliveries - with Liam Dawson unbeaten on nine.

    Middlesex's nominal target is 531.

  11. wicket

Worcestershire 305 all outpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

Two wickets in the space of six balls and the Worcestershire innings has been wrapped up.

First captain Joe Leach fell for seven, before Critchley bowled Alzarri Joseph for 46 to end with figures of 5-67.

The Pears trail by 85 on first innings.

  12. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Lancashire 305 & 104-2 v Northamptonshire 177

Hundred up for Lancashire who have now stretched their lead to 233.

Josh Bohannon and Steven Croft both look set on 17 not out. Plenty of work to do for Northamptonshire. They need wickets and they need them now.

  13. Postpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Somerset 312 & 18-2 v Gloucestershire 309

    Ryan Higgins has struck again.

Tom Abell is the man to fall, dismissed lbw for six, and it's not been a good start for Somerset's top order again.

James Hildreth joins England white-ball opener Tom Banton in the middle.

  14. Postpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Surrey 313-3 v Leicestershire 375

Ollie Pope (133 not out) and Ben Foakes (83 not out) continue to make terrific progress at The Oval as Surrey trail Leicestershire by just 62 now.

This pair have now put on 220.

  15. 'All eyes will be on Abbas again'published at 12:03 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Hampshire 319 & 275-4 v Middlesex 79

Hampshire's not out batsmen over night have both moved to deserved centuries which may have appeared inevitable but from 2-2 there was more than a spot of pressure on despite the match situation.

The onslaught has begun ahead of a declaration that will leave the hosts five and a half sessions to secure the victory.

Middlesex have not used Martin Andersson or Toby Roland-Jones this morning ahead of the roles they will be needed to play at six and eight respectively with the bat.

The ball is much older this morning so there hasn't been much seam movement today but all eyes will be on Mohammed Abbas when he takes the new ball for Hampshire after his 6-11 set the course for this match.

  16. Postpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Hampshire 319 & 273-4 v Middlesex 79

The match at Southampton is really starting to speed up now, as Hampshire start to pick up the scoring rate with a declaration clearly in mind.

Since our last update Sam Northeast has fallen for 118, bowled by Steven Finn, and James Vince has departed for a duck, trapped in front by the same bowler.

Ian Holland, meanwhile, remains at the crease on 139 not out and Hampshire's lead has stretched to 513.

  17. Postpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

Six in the match for Ollie Robinson who pins Nick Selman for 11.

Billy Root is the new man at the crease, joining Andrew Balbirnie who's yet to get off the mark.

And a breakthrough for Sussex too as Ollie Robinson pins David Lloyd leg before.

Beaten for pace, he goes for 19. Ireland's Andrew Balbirnie is the new man in.

Glamorgan still trail by 167 runs.

  20. wicket

WICKET Lammonby (c Bracey b Higgins) 0published at 11:48 British Summer Time 17 April 2021

    Somerset 312 & 2-1 v Gloucestershire 309

Ryan Higgins, so impressive with the new ball in the first innings, has struck with his second delivery of the second.

He has Tom Lammonby caught behind for a nought - his third successive duck, leaving him with just five runs in four County Championship innings so far this season in total.
