  1. Burns & Stoneman racking up for Surreypublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Leicestershire 496 v Surrey 58-0

Surrey's openers Rory Burns and Mark Stoneman have helped the visitors pass 50 for the first wicket.

Stoneman late cuts Callum Parkinson for four to move to 30 not out while Burns has 22 not out.

  2. Gloucestershire's Bracey outpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Middlesex 210 v Gloucs 225-6

Gloucestershire are into a first-innings lead at Lord's but they've lost James Bracey soon after tea.

Martin Andersson got him for 75.

Ryan Higgins and George Hankins are now in the middle for the Group Two leaders.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Root c Robinson b Quinn 41 (Yorkshire 131-3 v Kent 305)

    MASSIVE wicket at Headingley.

Joe Root tickles Matt Quinn down the leg side and is caught by the keeper.

It's a frustrating way to go for the England Test captain, but you have to say it's another start that he's failed to convert this season.

  4. Postpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

Evening sessions just getting under way in most of our fixtures.

Be about another 10 minutes before they resume at Edgbaston where they had a delayed tea interval.

  5. Sussex on the rackpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Sussex (106 & 41-2) trail Northamptonshire (441-9 dec) by 294 runs

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex at Northampton

Another session dominated by Northants who declared on 441-9 to take a lead of 335 runs.

They then dismissed both Sussex openers with just 34 on the board and much will now depend on the two overseas players Stiaan Van Zyl and Travis Head if Sussex are to save this game.

  6. 'Lady luck' shines on batsmenpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Hampshire (79 & 20-0) trail Somerset (336) by 237 runs

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset at Ageas Bowl

Lady luck seemed to be favouring the batsmen here in the afternoon session.

First, it was Somerset who were the beneficiaries, as both Craig Overton and Lewis Gregory played and missed umpteen times against the second new ball, en route to a first innings lead of 257.

But the boot was very much on the other foot when Hampshire batted, Gregory especially enjoying no luck at all in nine accurate overs, conceding just two runs.

Twice he had desperately close lbw appeals turned down, as Joe Weatherley and Ian Holland battled their way through to the interval.

  8. 'Gloucs in strong position'published at 16:05 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Middlesex 210 v Gloucs 201-5

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

Gloucestershire head into tea in a pretty strong position after a patient performance throughout sees them nudging towards a first innings lead.

James Bracey has been put down twice - on 36 and 52 off Tim Murtagh and James Harris - and in a slow and low scoring game this could come back to haunt the hosts but it was Ian Cockbain's fifty that has so far separated the two innings.

The right-hander has a fine record in all three formats against Middlesex and in a rare first-class outing put Middlesex to the sword with some positive stroke play on what for most has been a slow track.

Harris did manage to remove Cockbain just before the interval and with the new ball nine overs away it keeps the hosts in with a chance of limiting the first innings deficit heading their way.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Douthwaite lbw b Anderson 61 (Lancashire v Glamorgan 271-7)

James Anderson picks up his third wicket of the innings as he smacks Dan Douthwaite on the knee roll. Up goes the finger.

Anderson has 3-40 off 23.1 overs. Doesn't like giving runs away Jimmy.

That'll be tea at Old Trafford.

  10. Gritty Pears dig in againpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Warwickshire 343 v Worcestershire 106-2

    Dan Wheeler
BBC Hereford & Worcester at Edgbaston

Worcestershire's reputation for selling their wickets as expensively as possible has helped them to four straight draws so far and it's serving them well again.

The Bears attack has roared in with the new ball with Olly Stone and Liam Norwell bowling like the wind and torturing the techniques of the Pears batters.

There was nothing Darly Mitchell's technique could've done to save him from being pinned in front for 12 by one that didn't get up from Norwell, but in-form Jake Libby (61 not out) has ridden the storm splendidly.

Timing it glamorously off his legs, he brought up his fourth half-century of the summer (two have been converted into hundreds) to try to do for the visitors what Rob Yates did for the home side yesterday.

Despite the loss of Tom Fell to a bit of a waft at Will Rhodes, Libby continues to exude calm which they'll hope will infuse 20-year-old Jack Haynes with confidence on his first Championship appearance of the season.

  11. Tea on the horizonpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

Not long until the tea interval arrives in a few matches.

We'll show you all the latest scores in a short while.

  12. Sussex struggle with bat againpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Northants 441-9 dec v Sussex 106 & 34-2

Northants will want this game done inside two days so they won't have to worry about what the weather holds over the weekend.

They've already removed both Sussex openers second time around.

Gareth Berg got Tom Haines and Ben Sanderson has just removed Aaron Thomason.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Cockbain b Harris 51 (Middlesex 210 v Gloucs 191-5)

Fify and out for Ian Cockbain.

Middlesex paceman James Harris beats him all ends up and the leg stump is out of the ground.

It ends a stand of 91 with James Bracey.

What sort of first-innings lead can the Group Two leaders now get?

  14. 50 runs

for Douthwaitepublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Lancashire v Glamorgan 262-6

A fine fifty for Glamorgan all-rounder Dan Douthwaite.

He gets there with a nice punch down the ground off James Anderson.

His stand with Callum Taylor is now worth 72 as Lancashire continue to struggle for breakthroughs in this session.

  15. 50 runs

for Jake Libbypublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Warwickshire 343 v Worcestershire 88-2

Jake Libby's prolific start to the season continues as he cuts Tim Bresnan for four to the point boundary.

Brings up his half-century from 92 balls with what was his eighth four.

  16. Fell falls for Pearspublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Warwickshire 343 v Worcestershire 84-2

Tom Fell is the second Worcestershire wicket to fall at Edgbaston.

Will Rhodes has him caught behind by Michael Burgess for 20.

Jake Libby unbeaten on 47 at the other end.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Westley c Moores b Broad 1 (Essex 99 & 68-2 v Nottinghamshire 323)

Essex skipper Tom Westley has a match to forget.

He departs for just one for the second time in as many days with Stuart Broad getting him to feather one behind to Tom Moores.

Essex two down now and still 156 runs in arrears.

  18. Miserly Lewis Gregory bowls five maidens in a rowpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Hampshire (79 & 18-0) trail Somerset (336) by 239 runs

Somerset's Lewis Gregory has sent down five consecutive maiden overs at the start of this Hampshire second innings and is just a ball away from making it six.

Amazing that he hasn't taken a wicket yet after several plays and misses from Joe Weatherley and Ian Holland.

Weatherley finds a bit of respite with a couple off the last ball of his sixth over.

  19. Root gets a startpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Yorkshire 101-2 v Kent 305

    Joe RootImage source, Getty Images

Joe Root is looking in decent touch early in his innings at Headingley.

The 30-year-old is already up to 27 off 38 balls without seeming to do a lot. His busyness at the crease always keeps the runs ticking.

Gary Ballance is on 30 at the other end. HUGE amounts of experience in the middle for Yorkshire.

  20. Postpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Leicestershire 496 v Surrey 14-0

If you've ever wondered what Rory Burns looks like bowling, here you go.

The England opener is currently in the middle for Surrey and they need him to bat long.
