  11. 50 runs

for Craig Overtonpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Hampshire 79 v Somerset 280-8

They've restarted on time at the Ageas Bowl though where there's now an entertaining half-century for Craig Overton as his handy form this season with the bat continues.

It's come off 66 balls with eight fours.

  12. Postpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

As per usual when we get a bit of rain around on the first couple of days, some games are getting back under way, some will resume in five or so minutes after lunch.

  13. 'Zaib batted beautifully'published at 13:38 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Northants 346-6 v Sussex 106

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A dominant session for Northants who have added 132 for the loss of Saif Zaib who batted beautifully in making his maiden first-class hundred eventually being dismissed for 135.

Skipper Adam Rossington is still there on 85, although Sussex haven’t helped their own cause by dropping him twice in the slips.

Sussex have a new ball available after lunch, but with a deficit of 240 the visitors have much work to do if they are to save this game

  14. Bears post competitive totalpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Warwickshire 343 v Worcs 12-0

    Dan Wheeler
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Michael Burgess' terrific hundred - the second to reach three figures for the Bears in this match - has the home side lunching in hearty fashion having posted what looks like a very competitive total.

Burgess was last man out for 101 and got adhesive support from Danny Briggs who rode his luck a little in frustrating the visitors' attack.

Worcestershire, who dropped another catch this morning - their fourth of the game - look like needing every bit of their batting fortitude to mount a decent challenge.

Daryl Mitchell and Jake Libby survived a torrid four-over burst from Olly Stone and Liam Norwell, who had Mitchell shelled at slip by Tim Besnan, to edge the Pears to the comfort of the dressing room.

  15. Visitors get best of batting conditionspublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Middlesex 210 v Gloucs 87-2

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

Gloucestershire dominated a sunny morning at Lord's as Kraigg Brathwaite and James Bracey saw off the new ball - not without a little help from nightwatchman Matt Taylor.

Martin Andersson, in his first over, eventually made the breakthrough this morning for Middlesex after 58 minutes as Taylor nicked off but his time in the middle frustrated the hosts greatly.

If feels a very different day to yesterday, which saw the lights on for most parts and a couple of stoppages for rain, and there hasn't been as much seam or swing movement.

After a solid start today the visitors will know they now have the best opportunity to bat on this track with the overheads unlikely to change for the remaining sessions.

  16. Jimmy shines between the showerspublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Lancashire v Glamorgan 162-5

    Nick Webb
BBC Radio Wales at Old Trafford

    James AndersonImage source, Rex Features

It’s been a difficult session for Glamorgan as Jimmy Anderson bowled yet another tight spell in between the weather interruptions, to show his readiness for England’s Tests against New Zealand next month.

He won a leg-before decision against Billy Root on 11, had Chris Cooke dropped at slip, and conceded just nine runs in a metronomic six overs.

Left-armer Luke Wood then produced a brute of a ball for Kiran Carlson on 18 to lob a catch to Anderson at slip, while his next delivery almost accounted for Callum Taylor in similar fashion.

Glamorgan had added 45 runs for the loss of two wickets when more dark clouds sent the players heading for the pavilion - a familiar feeling over the first four sessions of the game.

  17. Somerset take chargepublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Hampshire 79 v Somerset 272-8

    Kevan James
BBC Radio Solent at Ageas Bowl

Somerset added 130 runs for the loss of three wickets this morning, giving them a lead over Hampshire of 193.

In the context of the game that is match-winning lead.

The wicket is playing a little easier now, but even so, there are enough balls moving off the straight to give Somerset confidence that at the very least they will have a small total to chase in their second innings.

Nightwatchman Jack Leach (34) made Hampshire pay for dropping him last night. A couple of his cover drives even had one listener text in to say they reminded him of David Gower!!!!

Craig Overton (48 not out), Steven Davies (33) and Tom Abell (64) (added 12 overnight), didn't let Hampshire get a sniff this morning.
