Lyndon James strikes him on the front pad and after a big appeal, up goes the finger of umpire Rob Bailey and Cook looks less than convinced by that decision.
Looked more out than not out personally. Essex still 161 adrift.
Middlesex 210 v Gloucs 143-4
James Bracey's excellent season continues as he goes to his fifth half-century in nine innings.
He's now scored 442 runs at an average of more than 60. England form?
Gloucestershire are enjoying a fine afternoon at Lord's as they close in on Middlesex's first-innings total.
Hampshire (79 & 8-0) trail Somerset (336) by 249 runs
Hampshire's second innings has begun with Joe Weatherley and Ian Holland trying to keep the combined threats of Craig Overton and Lewis Gregory at bay.
A huge, huge deficit for them to try and haul in.
Essex (99 & 50-0) trail Nottinghamshire (323) by 174 runs
50 up for Essex in their second innings as Alastair Cook (28 not out) and Nick Browne (18 not out) continue to build a decent response in this second innings.
But the pitch still looks like it's got plenty to encourage the bowlers.

Tom Taylor hits Travis Head for four fours in an over and that'll do Northants for their first innings.
Taylor finishes unbeaten on 44 and Northants have a lead of 335.

They trail by 257. Big ask to salvage anything from this game with more than seven sessions (weather permitting) remaining.

Leicestershire finally bowled out for 496 as Harry Swindells is stumped by Ben Foakes for 103.
That gives Amar Virdi figures of 6-171 as he took the last three wickets in consecutive overs.
Surrey look a weary bunch as they head off after 141 overs in the field.

Sussex will be hoping the forecast rain arrives tomorrow and sticks around.

Adam Lyth tries to repeat the heave over mid-wicket which brought him six a couple of overs ago but this time he skies it.
Miguel Cummins takes the catch peddling back from mid on to give Darren Stevens his 14th wicket of the season.

First Worcestershire wicket down in their reply to Warwickshire's 343.
Daryl Mitchell trapped leg before to Liam Norwell for 12.
Yorkshire 31-0 v Kent 305
That is a shot of some authority from Yorkshire opener Adam Lyth.
Darren Stevens bowls one slightly too full and Lyth simply whips him over mid-wicket for six.
What a hit. Good start from Yorkshire's opening pair.

Somerset's ridiculously long tail keep wagging.
Not many sides can have Lewis Gregory coming in at no.10 and he is 27 not out with Craig Overton 71 not out at the other end.
Somerset 241 ahead.
Hampshire's bowlers getting absolutely no reward as they consistently beat the bat without finding an edge.
