  1. Haynes & Barnard's 50 partnershippublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Warwickshire 343 v Worcestershire 282-6

Worcestershire's Jack Haynes (86*) and Ed Barnard (24*) have reached the 50 partnership at Edgbaston to help their side close in on the Warwickshire total.

    They are now 61 behind.

Strangely, all four of Worcestershire's fixtures this season have ended in a draw - it could be five by the time we're finished here today.

  2. Postpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Lancashire 100-2 v Glamorgan 344

Hundred up for Lancashire at Old Trafford in a game that's heading towards a draw.

The hosts have lost Alex Davies and Luke Wells this morning but Keaton Jennings is still there on 44.

  3. Postpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Leicestershire 496 v Surrey 146-0

Still no play in Leicestershire where a third pitch inspection is now scheduled for 13:30 BST.

The sun is trying its best to break through the clouds and the covers are off.

Fingers crossed we'll see some action this afternoon.

    Siddle c Duckett b Paterson 6 (Notts 323 v Essex 99 & 189-9)

    Another one!

Peter Siddle plays at a Dane Paterson delivery without much conviction and he edges to Ben Duckett at second slip for an easy pouch.

Last man in is Jamie Porter, who let's face it has an unenviable task, with his side trailing by 35 and staring an innings defeat full in the face.

    Warwickshire 343 v Worcestershire 265-6

With all that excitement in the other games, let's check in on how things are shaping-up at Edgbaston.

Worcestershire looked to be wobbling slightly when they lost two quick wickets earlier on, but Jack Haynes and Ed Barnard have settled down nicely.

Haynes has quietly but confidently moved on to 74 from 185 balls and Barnard has added 21 from 43 since entering the fray.

The Pears are now trailing by 78.

  6. NORTHANTS BEAT SUSSEXpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 9 May 2021
    Breaking

Northants (441-9 dec) beat Sussex (106 & 215) by an innings and 120 runs

That's as convincing a victory as you will ever see.

Gareth Berg misses out on his 10-wicket haul for the match as Tom Taylor removes Jack Taylor, but his heroics with Ben Sanderson have set up this win.

Sussex never recovered from being skittled for 106 on the opening day.

Sanderson finishes with match figures of 10-99.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Walter c Duckett b James 30 (Notts 323 v Essex 99 & 175-8)

    Essex are eight down!

They've been skittled this morning by the Notts bowling attack which now has five wickets in less than 90 minutes.

Paul Walter had provided some resistance with 30 off 106 balls but Lyndon James has been on fire in this session and he finds the edge which is snaffled up at second slip by Ben Duckett.

They still need another 49 runs to prevent an innings defeat.

  8. wicket

    Harmer lbw b Paterson 0 (Notts 323 v Essex 99 & 170-7)

Simon Harmer is the next Essex batsman to exit without scoring as Notts look to bring this game to a close in swift fashion.

He's gone lbw to Dane Paterson and Essex have lost four wickets in the morning session.

    Northants 441-9 dec v Sussex 106 & 213-9

Ben Sanderson has been taken out of the attack, 10 wickets under his belt, but Gareth Berg is still going.

Can he take his 10th of the game also?

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Notts 323 v Essex 99 & 166-6

Two wickets in three balls for Lyndon James!

Ryan ten Doeschate goes lbw for 21, before Adam Wheater lasts only two balls before seeing his stumps re-arranged.

Notts are closing in on a big win.

  11. Five-wicket haulpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Northants 441-9 dec v Sussex 106 & 205-9

Fifth wicket for Ben Sanderson and a 10th in the match!

The Northants fast bowler gets Ollie Robinson lbw for 23 to leave Sussex nine down and still needing 130 to avoid an innings defeat.

    Put the champagne on ice.

    Dawson lbw Davey 0 (Hampshire 79 & 138-6 v Somerset 336

    Josh DaveyImage source, Getty Images

You did wonder if the removal of Joe Weatherley might prompt a quick Hampshire downfall and it looks like it might be the case.

Liam Dawson didn't last long, not scoring in ten balls before being dismissed by Josh Davey who has done the damage for Somerset this morning.

Four to go for Somerset to wrap things up, with Hampshire looking in rather forlorn position now.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Meaker c Rossington b Sanderson 6 (Northants v Sussex 194-8)

Eight down, two to go for Northants!

Ben Sanderson and Gareth Berg continue to go neck and neck in the wicket stakes.

This time it's Sanderson who grabs his fourth as Stuart Meaker edges the paceman behind.

Nine in the match for both Northants bowlers.

Sussex are heading for a big innings defeat.

  14. Postpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Hampshire 79 & 134-5 v Somerset 336

Joe Weatherley had...weathered (apologies) quite a few dangerous deliveries this morning but his resistance is finally broken by Josh Davey.

The opener faced 209 balls for his 44 but his fine rearguard innings comes to an end with a nick behind to Steve Davies.

Somerset will be looking to move in for the kill now with Hampshire still trailing by 123.

Liam Dawson is the new man and he joins James Vince out in the middle.

  15. Postpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Lancashire 51-1 v Glamorgan 344

It's pretty slow going for the Lancashire batsmen at Old Trafford.

They bring up their 50 in the 30th over.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Cox lbw Hannon-Dalby 23 (Warwickshire 343 v Worcestershire 232-6)

The Bears have their second wicket of the morning as Oliver Hannon-Dalby pins Ben Cox lbw to pick up his first of the game.

Riki Wessels fell earlier this morning and Worcestershire are still trailing by 110 with four wickets in-hand.

Ed Barnard is the new man in.

  17. Overton looking in predatory formpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Hampshire 79 & 124-4 v Somerset 336

Craig Overton is top of the wicket-taking charts with a hugely impressive 31 so far this season.

He looks in the mood to add to that total this morning too and has gone extremely close to dismissing Joe Weatherley (40*) twice already.

First he raps his pads prompting a huge appeal - and it looked a good shout - before almost finding an edge.

    Close but no cigar!

  18. Further pitch inspection at 12:15 BSTpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Leicestershire 496 v Surrey 146-0

There are some angry looking clouds overhead but hopefully it's an improving picture in Leicestershire, where we are still waiting for play to begin.

There was an initial pitch inspection at 11:00 BST and there will be a second in just under 45 minutes time.

Fingers crossed the players will be able to get under way shortly after that.

WICKETpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Brown lbw b Berg 39 (Northants 491-9 dec v Sussex 106 & 169-7)

    Three away from victory!

Gareth Berg gets his fourth wicket of the innings and ninth of the match by pinning Sussex captain Ben Brown lbw.

That's surely Sussex's last hope gone.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 9 May 2021

    Rawlins c Rossington b Berg 0 (Northants 491-9 dec v Sussex 106 & 160-6)

Delray Rawlins pokes forward and edges Gareth Berg behind.

It's an eighth wicket in the match for the Northants seamer.

Sussex still need 175 to avoid an innings defeat. Very unlikely now.
