You would have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by the sight of Chris Rushworth embracing his father on the boundary edge after becoming Durham's record wicket-taker in first class cricket.

His 4-52 took him to 531 wickets for his home county as they defeated Worcestershire by 258 runs at the Riverside.

They were only denied top spot in Group One because Essex collected 24 points for their innings win over Derbyshire as prolific spin bowler Simon Harmer finished with 12 wickets in the match.

The other three games which made it to the final day were all drawn, with Yorkshire leapfrogging Lancashire - who were not in action - to the top of Group Three after leaving Cardiff with 12 points.

  5. GLAMORGAN DRAW WITH YORKSHIREpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 16 May 2021
    Breaking

How cruel, Kiran Carlson finishes unbeaten on 88, 12 short of a century, on his birthday!

He doesn't seem too fussed though as both sets of players walk off.

That's 11 points for Glamorgan and 12 for Yorkshire, enough to put the White Rose County top of Group Two.

  6. Rushworth 'couldn't be any prouder'published at 17:14 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

Durham seamer Chris Rushworth became the club's leading wicket-taker in first-class cricket with the first of four victims in their win over Worcestershire at the Riverside.

It was an overwhelming moment for the Sunderland-born 34-year-old, who afterwards told BBC Radio Newcastle: "I couldn't be any prouder. I don't think I've ever felt that emotional on a cricket field. I've played in Lord's finals, won a Championship but that just topped it off.

"Previously other milestones haven't really entered my mind, but because this one was so big and has been quite close for a while, it was on my mind

"For someone who has been at the club for so long, it now feel like we're playing like a Durham side should. We're competing hard, we're playing some amazing cricket and everyone is loving every single minute of it."

    Glamorgan 149 & 163-4 v Yorkshire 230

Two bouncers from David Willey which Carlson - now on 87 - stretches for but just misses. He's a little too eager right now.

Slow down Kiran, there's still 15 overs left before stumps!

Another boundary and Carlson moves on to 84. A century would be a lovely 23rd birthday present for Glamorgan's youngest ever centurion.

Back-to-back fours and Kiran Carlson moves on to 79.

Maybe we do have a reason to play on after all.

    And then there was one.

This is our last match still standing with fewer than 18 overs remaining in the day. I could see this getting called off by both captains earlier though. A draw looks inevitable.

  11. SUSSEX DREW WITH KENTpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 16 May 2021
    Breaking

    Kent 145 & 387-4 dec v Sussex 256

A couple of singles from Travis Head's seventh over and Kent declare, enabling the two sides to settle on an inevitable draw.

Jack Leaning finishes on 127 not out, having faced 263 deliveries and struck eight fours.

His partnership of 172 with Ollie Robinson (85) was the highlight of the final day, with Sussex handicapped by the absence of England's Jofra Archer from their attack because of his elbow injury.

Sussex take 13 points from the game with Kent - who are still looking for their first win - earning 11.

A bowling change with 20 overs remaining as David Willey enters the attack.

Kiran Carlson cuts another to move on to 68 while Chris Cooke is now on four from 21.

Glamorgan's lead had edged past 50 to 55 by the way. Can't see anything but a draw right now.

  13. Postpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

Durham defeated Worcestershire by 258 runs a short time ago to move up to second in the Group One table.

Here's BBC Radio Newcastle's Martin Emmerson with his assessment of a memorable day for Durham's Chris Rushworth.

    Kent 145 & 381-4 v Sussex 256

Things have been a little more subdued at Hove following the dismissal of Kent's Ollie Robinson.

Tawanda Muyeye is understandably taking a look at the Sussex bowling, which is still being done by Tom Clark and Travis Head, but has just pulled a long hop from the latter for his first boundary.

Jack Leaning remains on 124 at the other end.

New man in Chris Cooke may not have got off the mark yet but Kiran Carlson isn't hanging about at the other end.

He smashes two fours off a Jordan Thompson over to move on to 63 not out from 58 deliveries.

It's a long way off, but seeing someone get a century on their birthday would almost make up for the all the rain delays this fixture has seen this week.

    Lloyd lbw b Coad 40 (Glamorgan 149 & 117-4 v Yorkshire 230)

    Well, well, well.

David Lloyd batted superbly yesterday but he hasn't really got going since we restarted as Ben Coad pins him leg before.

We now have a very slim chance of a non-draw result. Another two wickets and Glamorgan's lead of 36 will be looking very vulnerable.

A smidge over 25 overs remain.

    Glamorgan 149 & 115-3 v Yorkshire 230

Birthday boy Kiran Carlson walks across in front of his stumps before clipping Ben Coad away through square leg for four.

Next ball he drives through mid-off for three to reach a half-century from just 46 deliveries faced.

Enterprising batting - it's just a pity he had to wait until after four o'clock to continue his innings.

Robinson lbw Clark 85 (Kent 361-4)

Just one slip in place and everyone else widespread as Sussex finally make a breakthrough at Hove.

Ollie Robinson's dismissal by Tom Clarke ends a fourth-wicket stand of 172 with Jack Leaning, who has now been joined by Tawanda Muyeye, who only managed a single in the first innings.

And finally we have some play in Cardiff.

Jordan Thompson bowls to David Lloyd and the first over is a tidy maiden.

The Welsh county are 27 in front with 27 overs to play.
