You would have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by the sight of Chris Rushworth embracing his father on the boundary edge after becoming Durham's record wicket-taker in first class cricket.

His 4-52 took him to 531 wickets for his home county as they defeated Worcestershire by 258 runs at the Riverside.

They were only denied top spot in Group One because Essex collected 24 points for their innings win over Derbyshire as prolific spin bowler Simon Harmer finished with 12 wickets in the match.

The other three games which made it to the final day were all drawn, with Yorkshire leapfrogging Lancashire - who were not in action - to the top of Group Three after leaving Cardiff with 12 points.

How cruel, Kiran Carlson finishes unbeaten on 88, 12 short of a century, on his birthday!

Durham seamer Chris Rushworth became the club's leading wicket-taker in first-class cricket with the first of four victims in their win over Worcestershire at the Riverside.

It was an overwhelming moment for the Sunderland-born 34-year-old, who afterwards told BBC Radio Newcastle: "I couldn't be any prouder. I don't think I've ever felt that emotional on a cricket field. I've played in Lord's finals, won a Championship but that just topped it off.

"Previously other milestones haven't really entered my mind, but because this one was so big and has been quite close for a while, it was on my mind

"For someone who has been at the club for so long, it now feel like we're playing like a Durham side should. We're competing hard, we're playing some amazing cricket and everyone is loving every single minute of it."

Another boundary and Carlson moves on to 84. A century would be a lovely 23rd birthday present for Glamorgan's youngest ever centurion.

This is our last match still standing with fewer than 18 overs remaining in the day. I could see this getting called off by both captains earlier though. A draw looks inevitable.

His partnership of 172 with Ollie Robinson (85) was the highlight of the final day, with Sussex handicapped by the absence of England's Jofra Archer from their attack because of his elbow injury.
