The runs are starting to flow a bit more now as a Sam Cook over goes for 10.

Leus du Plooy has looked particularly good so far as he moves on to 22 not out.

Derbyshire are still 121 runs off making Essex bat again.

So the onus is now on Durham's bowlers. Can they take 10 wickets in two sessions to earn a second win of the season? For Worcestershire, it will just be a case of batting out the overs.

What a way to get off the mark as Wayne Madsen smashes Simon Harmer for a maximum.

He's not going to wait around then.

    Guest lbw Cook 65 (Derbyshire 146 & 118-3 v Essex 412-3 dec)

    The one they wanted.

A fine innings comes to a close in a disappointing way as Brooke Guest fails to read a straight one.

  7. Sussex v Kent to start after lunchpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

    Kent 140 & 220-3 v Sussex 256

Following the second inspection of the morning at Hove, the players are going to take an early lunch with a view to play beginning at 13:10 BST.

It's still theoretically possible for us to have a winner in that game, even though there will only be two sessions on the final day assuming there is no further rain.

The pressure is really on now as Simon Harmer backs up Jamie Porter with a maiden.

New man in Leus du Plooy, yet to get off the mark, swipes at one which has Porter and the slip cordon appealing. Not out, pretty close that one.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

    Godleman lbw Porter 45 (Derbyshire 146 & 111-2 v Essex 412-3 dec)

    Big, big blow this.

The 97-run partnership ends as Jamie Porter gets his second wicket of the innings, pinning opener Billy Godleman leg before.

Essex are eight wickets away. And we're finally playing in sunshine as there's a brief break in the clouds.

  11. SOMERSET V SURREY ABANDONED AS A DRAWpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 16 May 2021
    Breaking

    Surrey 206-4 v Somerset

The weather is the only winner at Taunton where the umpires, Nick Cook and Russell Warren, decide the ground is just too soggy for there to be any realistic chance of play today.

The two sides take nine points each - with Somerset now four points behind Group two leaders Gloucestershire, who they meet at Bristol in the next round of games. Weather permitting, that should be a west country cracker.

Surrey remain in fourth place and have a lot of catching up to do if they are to make it through to next phase of the competition. Their next match is at home to London rivals Middlesex.

Glamorgan v Yorkshire - start delayed

Yorkshire were hoping to find a way today to secure their fourth win of the season, but they are being held up by the weather in Cardiff.

While we wait for Glamorgan to resume their second innings, here is England skipper Joe Root with a few thoughts on how he rates the White Rose's title-winning chances this summer.

Billy Godleman (42 not) and Brooke Guest (56 not out) will hope to convert their starts and bat long. Derbyshire still need another 167 runs just to make Essex bat again.

  18. Prompt start impossible at Tauntonpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

Only 68 over were bowled over the first three days at Taunton - just nine of them on Saturday - and a wet outfield means a delayed start.

Remember, we are still in the first innings of this match, with Surrey on 206-4 - Jamie Smith is 27 not out and Ben Foakes has 16.

It is going to take some very creative captaincy if this one isn't going to finish as a draw - and that assumes the players even make it out to the middle.

  19. Archer injury frustrates Sussexpublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 16 May 2021

Sussex v Kent - start delayed, inspection at 11:00

    Jofra ArcherImage source, Rex Features

The burning question at Hove is will Jofra Archer be able to bowl today? Probably not, if the close of play words of Sussex head coach Ian Salisbury on Saturday are any guide.

"You'll have to ask the ECB. But if it's sore today, then he's not going to bowl tomorrow," the former leg-spinner told BBC Radio Sussex.

Archer has only bowled five overs in Kent's second innings and there was "confusion" between him and skipper Ben Brown after a belated start to the third day's play.

"Any time Jof can't bowl, you're going to be frustrated. But that's life. That's sport. People get injured in any sport," said Salisbury.
